Disney's Car Care Center / Renting

Has anyone ever rented a car at the Disney Care Care Center or dropped one off there? Was transportation back to your hotel available? Has anyone used one of the rental company's that's located in the Hotel Circle resorts?

My traveling companion will be renting a car in Jacksonville for our October trip and wants to drop it off when he gets to Disney. In theory it's going to work, but I'm just not sure of the logistics. Any insight would be awesome.

Has your friend looked into how much he will pay for the one way drop off. That can add hundreds of dollars to the rental.
Just saying that might make a difference. We looked into the same thing but it was cost prohibitive to us. Well maybe not prohibitive but it was high enough to make us reconsider.

Really? eek No, we didn't know that can make a difference. We had just run it through the online reservation thing to price check it. Maybe we should call and talk to someone.

Any ideas of another option to get from Jacksonville to WDW?

The train? Amtrak stops in Jacksonville! Megabus also runs from JAX to Orlando. I would imagine Greyhound does too, but I haven't looked that up yet.

I checked National as an example and they are only charging 40.00 extra on 60.00 rental. I guess with just one day and it being so close that isn't so bad. We always had higher bills because we had longer rentals and further drop offs then Jacksonville to WDW. So that could work for you.

We have used the car care center for returns often. A complimentary shuttle bus runs to all WDW resorts. We just tell them where we are staying when we turn in the car and if the bus is not there- the most we've waited is 20 minutes!

We rented a car there last year, at the end of our stay; in order to drive to the Gulf Coast. Incredibly convenient, I would do it again in a second. I felt like I got a better car, and better service, since it was on Disney property.......don't know of this is true, but that's what it felt like.

As far as insight...I would drop my party off at the resort to get checked in, etc. And then head to the car center. Perhaps save a little time, if that's important.

The last few times we've been in Florida, I've returned the car at a different location than I've picked up, and have never felt dinged for it. Car rental prices fluctuate a lot. I usually find what I think is a good deal, make a reservation, and then keep checking around for a better deal.

We rented a car at the airport and then returned it onsight at the Hotel loop. It was quite an adventure getting back. We waited and waited for a bus to DTD since it was right there, but it never came. We finally took a bus to the Magic Kingdom. But they dropped us off at the ticket center. So we had to ride the monorail to MK and then find the bus to our resort. Needless to say, next time we will take a cab!! =)

Oy vey!! We decided that since he will be making a one way trip that he's going to go airport to airport and just hop on Magical Express to the hotel. It just seemed like the easiest option for us.
