DVC Kiosks

While I'm a huge fan of the Disney Vacation Club itself, I can't say that I really care for vacation club kiosks sprinkled all over the property. I could do with a lot less of them, how do you feel about them? Do you ever stop and talk? Are they too pushy?

I got stuck in a rainstorm and took shelter in one of the kiosks. I liked it that day. I told the salesman that they should have free liquor at the DVC booths, they would sell a lot more timeshares.

Actually, DVC salespeople in general are the least pushy salespeople around. They may tell an occasional fib, but they never use the high pressure techniques. The booths don't bother me either way.

We stop and talk to the CM's all the time at the DVC Kiosk's , never bothered me a bit and no I've never met a pushy one. We've actually gotten some good tips from them and even a Fast-pass at times.

I just ignore the DVC kiosks. And I agree, they are the least pushy of any timeshare sales reps I've ever met. Most non-DVC timeshare salespeople are outrageously aggressive and have, at best, a tenuous grasp of the truth.

They don't bother us at all. They have all been really nice to us and our girls. We always take cover there in the rain and heat.

We stop at many DVC kiosks and talk to the guys and gals manning them and like mrhub said they have been known to have access to a fastpass or two behind the counter. And we have never known ANY of them to be pushy.

I was asked once, I I was interested, and I politely said no, as I walked away, I heard one say to the other " he probably couldn't afford it" under her breath. Which drew quite a strong reaction from me. How do hey know, oh yes made. Assumption, because I'm fat and how I was dressed, so I asked her how did she know I hadn't the money? I could be a millionaire.

I got a very heart felt sorry that day, n stay clear of the kiosks when I can

I am sorry this happened to you, Disney CMs should know better. I hope she was embarrassed when you responded to her. many years of working in banking has instilled in me that you can never ever judge a book by the cover. One of my wealthiest clients shopped at the thrift shop, and looked like a bag lady, and there were lots of very well dressed people who drove fancy cars that were always over extended.

I also am sorry to hear that happened. That also is when you should have gotten the CM's name and went directly to guest relations and reported them. You can't let something like that go. Doesn't make for a happy memory and it ruins the magic for all of us.

If it wasn't for the guy who was at the kiosk at Wilderness Lodge we probably wouldn't have gone on our tour or joined last October. He just came over to chat with us while we sat waiting in the lobby for our reservation times. He asked if we thought of a membership and we were just talking about taking the tour when he walked over. He was so nice and had us a tour booked for right after our lunch. He didn't push us into it or anything because we had already planned on doing it.

I still haven't taken a tour, and we have been owners since 2011. I keep trying to make time for it though.

laugh Me neither and we've been owners since 2008. I bought at the Chicagoland Doorway to Dreams, which is sadly now closed.

I love those DVC kiosks and booths. It is a terrific place to find cast members wearing lanyards for us to do pin tradings. They are sitting ducks as far as we're concerned! And if we notice a shift change, we descend upon them like vultures because they have fresh lanyard pins!

Smile

We were talking to people in the queue for Darth Vader last year and it sounded quite cool, so we went up to the booth and next thing was a tour, and that was it really. Both of us thought that the other wouldnt want too! We think of it as a long term investment for us and the DD. We wouldn't have been able to stay at AKL normally too expensive.

Not to hijack, but what's involved in a DVC tour? Do you just go to a DVC resort and check out the rooms or is it more of a presentation? I've heard that you usually get a goodie (someone said free ice cream or a fast pass) if you do it, but I'm not sure how involved it is.

yes to all of your questions JMUDukz, the tours are given at SSR and consist of a brief presentation and a tour of the model units that they have in a large building. I can truly say NO pressure to buy, after the tour you get ice cream and I know they used to give you a souvenir picture of you at SSR. Also they have a free baby sitting service available for the kiddos. plus they pick you up and drop you off after the tour in their fleet of vans.

How long do the tours take? And how far in advance do you have to book them?

Ours seemed to take for ever but that was because I was getting sick and they had to take hubby back to our hotel to get proof of ID ( the one time we didn't have anything with us) but there genuinely was no pressure to buy. They even dropped us of at the front of Epcot (having picked us up at DHS) so that was cool. Also got gift cards to say thanks.

When we did ours, it took about 90 minutes and that included them having to drive me back to the Poly to get scrappy's ID (Sally-Ann don't give your husband a hard time about it, scrappy does it all the time). No pressure at all. Our rep is Ricardo Florez, a really nice guy, but I've never met one that was not nice.

I wouldn't give him a hard time as it was my fault! Also we were staying at the top of the I Drive for that week so not even on property, I convinced him we wouldnt need them, our rep was Fernando Carranza and he was really cool. Interesting to talk to whilst waiting. He had worked for Disney then was lured outside of the Disney fold and then came back to them and was really happy to be back working there.

90 minutes doesn't sound too bad. And I like the lack of pressure. We are interested to see what DVC is but we have no plans to buy into it yet. We want to pay off our house first wink Since we're going for 2 weeks this fall we thought maybe that would be a good time to look into it since we'll have the time biggrin

DVC is great. I need to go tour. We never have done that. We bought a resale, I didn't get a tour or fast passes or anything. I still want to go check it out though.
