ECV in the Rain

The weather forecast for next week is looking rainy. No problem, I don't plan on letting that slow us down one bit. However, the company we're renting the scooter from says that they shouldn't be used in the rain. Wait... WHAT!

So I gave them a call to discuss this problem of what to do with the scooter in the rain. The woman told me that touring was fine, but that we need to protect the steering column where the main computer chip lives. Okay, that makes total sense. Computers don't like to get wet.

Hrmm... sooo... any ideas on this? Carry Extra garbage bags? Buy a poncho for the scooter? Clear tarp and duct tape?

Who has a fun and creative idea for me?

Kristen everything I read, most people use a plastic bag over the controls and battery and they do fine. I would try to use a heavier weight bag, not a cheapy. Also keep a towel in a bag to dry the scooter off with if the seat gets wet. Oh I just read you can use shower caps over the control.

Shower curtain!! It's big enough that you can cover the entire thing if you park the ECV (for a ride or a show) to cover the seat so it's dry when you come out (you'll probably be soaked anyway, but at least you don't have to sit in a puddle!).

Don't forget clothespins or large binder clips to secure your shower curtain with.

Hey Kristen, did you get a cover for the EVC. If you did, get a picture of it with it on.

I did end up buying a cover but we didn't get a picture. My husband ended up buying a backpack rain cover from Walmart. It worked perfectly. We were able to cover the entire front of the ECV with it from the control panel down over the basket. It had adjustable ties around the edges that kept it secure, and I could still get my hands beneath it to drive through the rain. It shook off to dry quickly when the rain stopped, and folded into a little square at the bottom of my basket when I wasn't using it. It was a brilliant purchase.

It looks something like this...
