Epcot U.K. Phone Booth Experiences

I just found out about the this: you can actually call the phone booths in U.K. and Canada of the World Showcase! I'm sure most of the people here already know about it, but I thought it was really cool! It's hilarious too! I just called a good 20 times and got through about 4 times. It's totally worth it though. While some people might just hang up on you, if fun when you get someone who listens. Here were my calls today:

  • Young girl who picks up, says "hello" and hangs up.
  • Teen-ish sounding girl who answers to my fake (and probably bad) English accent. She seemed quite confused though, and I couldn't understand what she said to me.
  • College-age sounding male picks up. Here's the dialogue(I'm in italics): "Hello, I'd like to make a reservation" "Ok sure", "Rose and Crown, right?" "That's right" "Ok, table for two, February 25th, 6:00. Are you available then?" "Yeah, that'll work. Can I get a last name for that?" "Sure, it's Ruth" "Can you spell that?" "Sure, it's R" "Yes" "U" "Yes" "T" "Yes" "H" "Ok, so that's February 28 errr 25th, 6:00" "That's right, thank you!" "Ok, have a great day!"
  • ^I didn't expect him to act so natural about it, but he played along perfectly! laugh
  • After two calls, a man picks up, says "hello?" and hangs up when I answer.
  • College-age girl picks up after I called once. Here's the dialogue (again, I'm in italics): "Hello, can I make a reservation?" "Ummm, I think you have the wrong number..." "What?" "Yeah, this is just a phone booth" "What? That's impossible!" "No, really, it's a phone booth in Disney" "Woah, Disney??" "Yeah![laughing]" "That's so cool!" "[laughing]" "I'm gonna save whatever number I called, that's so cool!" "[laughing] Yeah" Well, bye, I guess. Have a great time! "Ok, thanks![laughing]"
  • ^It seemed like she really had a good laugh; it was lots of fun!

It's so fun when you get someone who answers! Plus, it's like you get to contribute to other peoples' "Disney Magic" from your own house. Here are the numbers:

U.K. Phone Booths:

Right Booth: 407 827-9861
Left Booth: 407 827-9862
Center Booth: 407 827-9863

Canada Phone Booth:

407-827-9884

No one ever picked up when I called the Canada one though. I guess it's not as popular. Also, you might get a busy signal or a fax-like noise. Just hang up and try another one. Another tip: If it sounds like someone picked up, then hung up, call back that same number. Most people that I called answered on the second call, and not the first.

So, has anyone else had any fun experiences sending/receiving phone calls here?

I knew that these numbers were out there, but I've never called myself.

I have the UK numbers in my cell phone. Didn't know about Canada. I tried calling while there so I can see the person who answered. No one answered when I called.

I've called the UK booths from my office and while standing across the walkway at the Rose and Crown.

People are always a bit confused, but willing to talk and tell me how things are in EPCOT.

I call them all the time! There is a recording of one of my calls on a thread here about the same thing.

Found it:

Wow. Never knew this existed. Well, this has cured my random moments of boredom. I'd love to hear other recordings/stories! clapping

We had fun doing this! Sat across the walkway enjoying a snack and made the phone ring and hang up when someone went next to it to pose for a photo. They started to think that it was motion sensored, so we stopped for a few minutes and then started again to confuse them! laugh

I called another 20 or so times and got some more funny responses. One thing that I find the most amusing is that people seem surprised when someone is actually talking to them. I guess they think it's automated. Then again, I would too if I didn't know.
Still no response from the Canada booth. I did get a busy signal once or twice, though.
Here are some of the conversations I had from UK:
(My lines are in italics)

  • Another funny guy who played along: "Hello?" "Hey, Uncle Bob, is that you?" "Yeah!" "Ok, so about the trip to NY, we were going to leave tomorrow at 6:00. Does that work for you?" "I'll be there" "Ok, bye!"
  • I figured I'd try a classic phone pun for this one, but I don't think he was amused: "Britain" "Hello, is your refrigerator running?" [hung-up]
  • My favorite from today. It sounded like a woman with an accent: [After muffled conversation] "Hello, hello?" "Hi! How are you?" "Fine" "Are you enjoying Disney?" "No" "........... [hung-up]" How can you not be having fun at Disney?? laugh So funny, because I totally didn't expect that response.
  • An older man picked up this call: "Hello?" "Yes, I'd like to place an order for delivery" "Uhhh, this is a payphone"
  • I was surprised when a kid picked up this next call, but he/she was nice and said that they were having a great time at Disney. Sometimes the kids are the most talkative!

Does anyone have any ideas of funny things to say/ask when people pick up? I want to try to get someone to sing a song out loud.
