The Fabulous four take flight! - the pre-trip report

So seen as a very good friend of mine (and a member of this forum!) very kindly reminded me that I still need to do a pre-trip report I thought I best had seen as I only have 39 days left before we jet off on our magical vacation (actually 39 days today I'll be on the plane!)

So let's get this show on the road!

So to introduce us there is my Amy I'm 25 (will be 26 when we go!) self-confessed Disney addict! My mam Susan (I will not divulge her age!) also a Disney addict! We have been going to Disney for 20 years although it used to be every other year it increased to every year! Our other 2 party members are my Auntie Lynn and Uncle Bryan they are still fairley new to the Disney way of life they went for the first time last year with one of their daughters and her 6 children! They were hooked from the moment they stepped under the train station at MK.

We thought a trip with all four of us would be quite a few years away because when we were at home we were carers for my nana on a weekend and on a night and when we went away my auntie and uncle stepped in to help out (they lived in a different part of the country) now sadly my nana passed away on Christmas day 2014 and we all just kind of realised that life is too short and you should seize the moment so out pops this trip!

So onto the trip! We are actually in the world for 16 days this trip which is the longest ever! Soooo this is how the plan looks!

Sunday 20th September

Leave our houses in Sunderland and set off for Manchester airport! Staying at Bewleys hotel not really much noteworthy but my spreadsheet does say we are scheduled for party time at 6pm!

Monday 21st September

Pretty early start about 6am leave the hotel and take cars to meet and greet car park, get checked in, get breakfast and sit and stare at the plane until they let me get on! We are scheduled to arrive in Orlando at 3pm so once we are through immigration I hope to be sitting on the magical express by 5pm. We are also going to let Disney take care of the bags so we don't have to worry about them.
Once we arrive at Port Orleans Riverside and get checked in we will head to the rooms drop the small cases and either go explore the resort (auntie and uncle have never been!) or go to downtown Disney to collect gift card. Lunch will be either at the resort of possibly trying Earl Of Sandwich for the first time!

Tuesday 22nd September

FIRST PARK DAY!!!!!
So we are starting with the one and only Magic Kingdom we are planning on being there for the welcome show! We got to see this for the first time last year so we want my aunty and uncle to experience the very same! Then after a quick stop at Starbucks we are heading off to FP BTMRR and maybe ride Splash Mountain with no waits then FP for PPF and under the sea before our BOG Lunch reservation! I'm hoping nearer the time I will be able to pull the reservation forward slightly because it's booked for 1.55 and ideally we would like about 1pm, after lunch we are hoping to watch festival of fantasy and just generally saunter around the park before heading back to the resort.
I'm also hoping to do a carriage ride around the resort this is a maybe because if I do I want it to be a surprise to my aunty and uncle but not sure how they feel about horses etc so I'm hoping to walk past and go "oh look you can do horse rides around the resort" and if the reaction is good book it without them knowing! Also if anyone has any info about the rides etc please let me know!

Wednesday 23rd September

Today we will be EPCOT bound don't have as many plans for this day but we have FP for the seas and Soarin' then planning on exploring WS before F&W mania hits! Then on the way out possibly use Fp for spaceship earth if not I'm sure it will be walk on anyway.
The evening will be at MK to see wishes my auntie and uncle didn't see any Disney fireworks shows so I figured this has to be the first they see!

Thursday 24th September

Off to Hollywood Studios with FP for TSMM and TOT then hoping to catch Beauty and the Beast at 11.45, after lunch we also have a FP for the 4pm show of Frozen Sing A Long then once we are out of there we will be taking the friendship boat over to EPCOT for the F&W preview night pick up the passports etc and get a head start on the food and drink! (I have over 60 items personally and I'm the fussy one!)

Friday 25th September

Early start this morning for us all as we have an 8.30 reservation for BOG breakfast! We have never been inside the park before it officially opens so cannot wait to experience this for the first time after this we have FP for winnie the pooh, Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise.
Sometime later we will be heading back to EPCOT for food and drink obviously but also to see the ETTB concert " David Cook me and my mam absolutely love him so this was a must! Auntie and uncle love all kinds of music especially sort of rocky stuff so I'm hoping they enjoy it!

Saturday 26th September

Animal Kingdom today we have FP for Kilimanjaro safaris, Festival of the Lion King and Kali river rapids with lunch somewhere in the middle! We may head over to AKL or we may head back to the resort but we are open for the night so plans are up in the air

Sunday 27th September

Brace yourselves Amy is hiring a car once again! She is being let loose on the road so beware! Once we pick up hire car we are heading to Buena Vista factory Outlets and Walmart etc see what bargains we can get.
We have an ADR for Beaches and cream late afternoon so will be taking the car there then the evening is a bit up in the air because we are undecided whether we are doing Fantasmic! this night or Monday night we have FP for both nights so it will depend on how we feel as to which night we go

Monday 28th September

MEGA shopping day!
Me and mam for sure are hitting up the premium outlets not sure what auntie and uncle are doing today they may come they may explore resorts etc but we can decide nearer the time the UGG shop is calling my name (and the credit card is crying in preparation!) like the day before we have FP booked for Fantasmic" so depending which day we go this is still flexible

Tuesday 29th September

We will be taking the hire car back today so drivers can breathe a sigh of relief! I think we are possibly going to a water park on the morning because this was one thing my auntie really wanted to do so I think that's the plan for the most part of today.
On the night we are heading to EPCOT and have FP for test track (we have another 2 but we probably won't use them) just generally eating and drinking around the world!

Wednesday 30th September

We are probably going to head to Downtown Disney today to do MORE shopping (how many extra bags can I bring back?!) and just explore! On the night we are heading to MK as we have wishes FP booked for this night which I think will be nice to see if it's worth it

Thursday 1st October

Another early start at MK for BOG breakfast (although this does depend on if we like it the first time!) then we have FP for POTC, Splash Mountain and 7DMT.
At some point on the night head over to EPCOT for eating, drinking and music!

Friday 2nd October

Another MK day but this is subject to change we have FP for Splash Mountain, 7DMT and Festival of Fantasy parade and also BOG lunch booked but depending how we feel we could change this nearer the time. Open night so plans are up in the air

Saturday 3rd October

Hollywood Studios today with FP for TSMM, TOT and Frozen Sing A Long then a free night so open to plans!

Sunday 4th October

We are off to Animal Kingdom today with FP for Kilimanjaro Safaris, EE and Finding Nemo the musical! Nighttime takes us to DD where we have an ADR for Raglan Road (bring me bread pudding!!!!!)

Monday 5th October

Into our last few days sad heading to EPCOT today with FP for Soarin, Character Spot and spaceship earth, exploring one last time in the daytime then MK on the night for a last view of Wishes

Tuesday 6th October

Last full day sad has to be MK for the last day FP for POTC, BTMRR and 7DMT with Bog lunch in the middle! We will then be picking up a hire car for to use the next day then off to EPCOT (car is not coming I'm making the most of my last night!) watch illuminations and say bye to the world until next year

Wednesday 7th October

We will be up early to check out and take bags to Virgin Atlantic bag drop at DD we decided to have a car because it will work out cheaper than taxis and we are on our own schedule once we have done this we will take hire car back because we want the ME back to the airport .We fly at 8.25pm so hopefully sleep on the plane and get back to reality!

This trip is a lot more relaxed than I would usually be but I want to be as flexible as I can so my auntie and uncle really get that Disney feeling (and let's hope they do they have already said they are coming back in 2016 eak!)

I'm so excited about this trip!!! Also if anybody would like to do meet ups I'm happy to do so would love to meet up with some of you amazing people!

So fun!!! A nice long trip!

I've seen a number of you take about taking Virgin Atlantic. Is there a reason there's only one bag drop off and it's at DTD? That seems SO incredibly inconvenient. Why don't the Disney resorts allow you to drop your bags off there? What a pain to have to rent a car just to drop your bags off.

Awesome vacation! clapping And I agree with TinkASL, if you are using the Magic Express shuttle, why would you have to drag your bags to DTD? That does not make sense.

I could be wrong; but I would think that the resort can hold your bags until that evening, and then you accompany your bags on the shuttle to the airport (for check-in, etc.). Have you spoken with customer service?

Regardless, enjoy & have a wonderful vacation mickey

Virgin Atlantic is like your delta or United there is only a few airlines fly across the Atlantic for us and actually Virgin is the only airline that allows you to drop the bags off before the airport it is incredibly inconvient wish we could leave them at the resort but it's not allowed for some reason! But DTD is easier than trying to get more bags than people on and off the magical express it stresses me out!

We don't have to use the DTD drop off but for us it's easier than taking them on magical express last year we had (between 2 people) we had 2 large cases and 3 holdalls to check in and when we used to take them on ME and it was so stressful trying to move all the bags I wish we could do the resort check in but until then I'll do my pilgrimage to DTD! It's not as bad as it sounds!!!

We are flying with Thomas Cook as well next year! We have not flew with them before either, although we have not flew with Virgin so we won't know the difference. When we first went we flew with BA but that was 1999 and 2004. I've only been on Thomson dreamliner for long haul recently so I am excited to see the difference. Smile

Thomas Cook have new planes for long haul starting next year..Its not the Dreamliner..I believe the entire seating are being redesigned for extra legroom, slimmer seats,etc..Yeh, we snagged economy in the upstairs area of our VA flight last year, right next to the galley.. awesome

I think 2017 we might be heading back to Los Angeles as my wife's sister was here last week from L.A. with her hubby and kids and kept asking us when are we going back to visit them..Believe it or not, it's cheaper to fly from Manchester to LAX than to MCO..

Really? ohhh that sounds good Smile we kept looking at the flights then they went on sale so got a bit of bargain going economy out and premium back. I used to hate flying but I am really looking forward to it.

We are very excited because it's our first MNSSHP. We won't be dressing up as anything other than disney bounding T-shirts and maybe ears. I haven't decided yet, but I know it will be simple.

been a little bit absent lately with this and that but had to share that last week as we were heading out the door to go to a wedding we got out first piece of Mickey Mail!!!!!! we were very excited as previously we have always booked with a different company to Disney! we didn't get our magic bands because we are international but we got a little big book of magic, accommodation conformation and voucher book!!!! it was all very exciting and was a great start to a wedding weekend!

we have also now pre-ordered our food for lunch on our first day at BOG and we also have an option to pre-order the food for breakfast which we didn't realise you could do which was very exciting! so once we decide what we are having that order will be going in too!

getting close and very excited now!!!! yay yay yay yay yay yay
