Fort Meyers area

My in laws are taking me, DH, my BIL, and baby Penny on a trip to Pink Shell resort for a week over Thanksgiving this year. As much as the idea of being in Florida 3 hours away from WDW, I'm looking for ideas for things to do in the Fort Meyers area. Any suggestions?

I live in Ft. Myers. We have several beautiful beaches in the area but Ft. Myers beach isn't that pretty. If you want to enjoy a beautiful beach, see a gorgeous sunset or have dinner on the beach go to Bonita Springs Beach or Sanibel Beach(Sanibel is the best of any of our local beaches) Bonita and Sanibel are just a few miles away from Ft myers but well worth the drive. There are several very nice restaurants right on the beach, that you can sit on their outside lanai or balcony and enjoy the sunset while you eat.

We don't have a lot of tourist attractions that aren't centered around the water. There are dolphin boat tours, boat rides, jet boat rides, parasailing, you can take a boat to Key West for the day leaving from Ft myers---You get the idea, a lot of boats laugh

If anyone is a gambler we have a casino w/in 30-45 minutes from your resort and there is the Big M casino boat(yes another boat!) There's not a lot of other things to do here except the beaches. That's why my husband and I have annual passes to Disney world and we go every chance we get--It's only 2 1/2 hours away from Ft. Myers muchlove

Thanks for the tip! We just found out the sand castle competition is going to be going on while we're there so we're excited to check that out, too!

I second what Annielovesdisney said about Sanibel Island. It is absolutely beautiful there! Definitely worth the drive across the bridge!

Great! I'll ask my in-laws to add it to the itinerary! Thanks!
