Guardians of the Galaxy NEEDS and attraction ASAP!

I'm not going to make this a huge post but here's the bullet points

1. GotG has been a huge box-office hit for marvel and disney
2. it appeals to all age groups
3. Disney need a Marvel presence in on the east coast
4. GotG isn't part of the Universal contract
5. Hollywood studio needs attractions
6. GotG is prime for the type of screen based attraction universal have been building QUICKLY
7. they are filming a sequel so filming ride footage NOW will be cheaper and easier then doing it in 10 years
8. People are crazy about this franchise at the moment, people are losing their minds over star lord appearing at the villains event
9. Hollywood studios has SO MUCH SPACE and empty buildings
10. GET BUILDING!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the GotG fandom is huge, on sites like tumblr there are lots of non disney people talking about how if they had known they would have made a weekend trip just for that reason.

Star-Lord and Gamora will apparently be part of something at HS according to a report on InsideTheMagic. It seems this is the start of something as Big 6 will also be featured in some way and seems to be outside of the IOA's agreement with Marvel.

Your joking right? It's made 400 millions dollars world wide, been #1 at the box office for most of the summer and has the record for biggest ever summer opening weekend. It made 94 million opening weekend and a bench mark frozen made 67 million it's opening weekend. Disney have a huge hit here

DH and I saw it last weekend and we loved it. I'm not normally into the Marvel movies but GoTG really was awesome. I would LOVE if HS decides to make some GoTG attractions instead of all the Star Wars attractions that are supposed to be coming. I HATE SW and I loved GoTG so I'm definitely bias towards GoTG.

It's been getting overlooked since the Ninja Turtles have been number one at the box office here in the States for the past two weeks (Despite the fact that from what I heard, the Michael Bay produced turtles movie was not very good.) And it's still relatively unknown compared to other Marvel characters. And the biggest opening weekend this year was not Guardians, it was the Transformers 4 movie, but still the biggest for the month of August.

But I did see it a few days back and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Rocket Raccoon was definitely my favorite character with his one-liners and persona. It's probably more towards people who enjoy sci-fi and comedy as opposed to a normal typical superhero movie is probably what I'd say to people who are having a borderline decision of whether to see it or skip it.

Yadda yadda yadda. It IS the best movie, those people just don't know it, or they need to be educated. I've already seen it twice. If we were doing the villains thing, I would spend most of my time with the Guardians.

It's the biggest non sequel/prequal opening. Also turtles is always going to be huge because people like me (I was a child when they first came out) will go see it regardless

Guardians was pretty good... but don't get me wrong... they need to have a bigger Star Wars presence before they do Guardians. And at least for me... having a Guardians ride or attraction would be nice... I think Disney World needs the full Marvel line up for it to really work. Star Wars is huge on its own.... but Guardians is part of a bigger universe (Even though it really consists of Earth). A lot more people know about Guardians for sure now... but I still think they need Iron Man, Spider-Man, Cap, etc for it to be truly popular at Disney. It would be like throwing a Halloween party and all you were allowed to be was The Mummy since the other party had the rights to Dracula, Frankie, etc.

Now i haven't seen GotG but am very keen to see it,However ...
I don't think it will have such a long lasting fanbase such as Starwars/HP so it will (imho) become a stale attraction.
Also as for the needing to build quick i believe it would need more proven staying power for any of the parks to commit to building anything.Remember, the first HP film came out in 2001 but HPland @ uni wasn't opened until 2010. Yes they built it quicker than Disney would have done once they announced it but that is still a 9 year gap and i fear GotG won't be as popular in 9 years time.
Rather than see them announcing and then building this it would be nice to see them speed up constructinon on Avatarland and StarWars land first.

So - as of Friday night Guardians of the Galaxy has retaken the #1 spot at the US box office. That's just amazing and almost never happens.

I understand what your saying mr f but I think that disney are going to underestimate how massive this franchise is and are going to miss out and bring out an attraction too late, remember an attraction can help a franchise and hype grow and make it live on in people's hearts and minds. GOTG just might be this generations Star Wars.

I fear disney parks will screw this up, if the next Star Wars movie flops (I am a massive Star Wars nerd btw my uncle played greedo) then a land might only appeal to people who are now 30 years old plus....... As for avatar land.... Well they have to have a hit with the next movie.

Disney could easily build a quick easy ride for GotG and improve attendance at HS 100 percent

So firstly I'm a MASSIVE StarWars, Marvel and film geek, always have been always will be. Extending StarWars in the parks would be the first and most sensible move. Introducing Marvel into the parks would be good, but baby steps. GoTG IS a massive success but their part of the Marvel Universe is quit far from the likes of Capt. America, Hulk and Iron Man. These are the more established, well know areas of the universe, so I would say build that up first, give it a following then extend to GoTG. It would be kinda like opening a McDonalds and only serving the McRib. You need the base item first them add the tasty specials later.

Guardians back on top from this weekend's box office.

But anyway, I don't think they need to rush to put Guardians in the Disney parks. mrferret pointed out how Wizarding World of Harry Potter came out in 2010, nine years after the first film but also, remember, there were other films in that series that came out before Wizarding World opened. (Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince) and all the books were published by then. HP was able to stay relevant because of all of those films in between.

The reason why Star Wars is still relevant for all these years is not just the classic trilogy, but the prequel films (Though everyone seems to love to hate those films), the Clone Wars TV show, video games, comics, etc. As for Guardians, before they add anything in terms of a land or attraction, they may need to test to see if Guardians can maintain its large following through other forms of media and not just the movies and comics. They've already announced a Guardians sequel and we now have Star Lord and Gamora in the Disney parks in the Studios so it's a small start.

I'd love to have a GOTG attraction at DHS, but since the Star Wars expansion/refurbishment appears much closer to happening than not, I'm willing to see how it goes before we also try to shoe horn a GOTG attraction in.

That said, Guardians of the Galaxy has been legit the only Marvel movie I've had any interest in seeing and among the ones I have seen (few), the only one I've really liked. It was fantastic.

The Guardians have had guest appearances in cartoons such as Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Ultimate Spider-Man, and Rocket Raccoon was a playable character in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (and a quite popular one at that!).

Still, though, even if a full on attraction isn't in the cards yet, Disney has quite the opportunity here as both Guardians and the upcoming Big Hero 6 seem cleared for some use in the Florida parks. At the very least, one of the Guardians, probably Star-Lord, should be out on a semi-regular basis for meet & greets for the next few months.

Also, as of yesterday, Guardians is officially the U.S.'s highest grossing movie of 2014, so Disney should (and most likely will) try to capitalize on this.

Looks like Guardians of the Galaxy is expanding their TV presence. They are getting their TV series in 2015 on Disney XD. People are hoping it'll be better than Avengers Assemble, which hasn't gotten a good reception compared Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. So we'll see how much staying power the show has for the Guardians brand.
