Haircuts at the Magic Kingdom - Pics Added

DS1 is shaggy! and already in need of his first haircut. I was considering taking him to the Barber Shop at MK for the momentous occasion. Anyone ever tried it before? I hear they get mouse ears Smile

I haven't taken anyone there for their FIRST haircut, but I hear the whole thing is pretty adorable. They get "My first haircut" mouseears and the whole thing costs less than $20. Pretty good deal in the World of Disney.

Right, this is a very temporary slip off-topic, but this has been driving me mental.

People keep writing stuff like "DS" and "DD", what is everyone on about? Is it like Son and Daughter, Husband and Wife?? But what's the D?!? and does the "1" mean they are 1 year old? Or it's your first son? Orrrr....maybe it's nothing to do with son?

Sorry to change topic for a moment, I just keep meaning to ask!

D stands for Dear
DH Dear Husband
DS Dear Son
DD Dear Daughter
1 would be 1 years old.

Peg - this made me laugh hysterically. It wasn't very long ago that I had the exact same question...I love that you asked!

Yes, DS is 1 as of today Smile And we booked his appointment today. Can't wait. This is going to be too cute (providing he cooperates crossfingers )

I know Jeff - right? I found an old post on Disney Parks Blog (well, old like from last fall) and apparently, some families make quite the tradition out of it!

On most forums it stands for Dear..but I have seen some people refer to it as DisneySon or DisneyDaughter on Disney forums..I think that's cute.

But then again I don't think it really matters.

I'm hoping Holden's little curls hold out until May..he's shaggy but it all curls up so it's not in his face..I want to do this there!

Yes...that's the problem. I could hold out, but it's in his face. It's a haircut or a barette! Smile Although now that we're all booked, that whole mommy "But I don't wanna cut my baby's hair" thing is kicking in. I have to be tough! It's scheduled for next week!

I was actually thinking of going in and getting one when we were there on our trip. I looked in but all the chairs were full I didn't know if you needed an appointment.

You didn't used to ever be able to get an appointment -- they've JUST made appointments available this year. I used to get to the park early during morning EMH so that I could be first in line for a haircut at the MK Barber Shop mickey

JeffC -- Don't forget to get Pixie Dust in your hair when you go!

There were walk ins while we were there. DS's appt was at 11 am.

Here you go...too cute if I do say so mickey Here's the Before, During (note the Mickey stickers...had no idea their power to distract!) and After. Also note that the parade did the trick beee-utifully.

Awh, thanks, Guys. Yes, I love his expression. And at one point, he had about 8 stickers on him. It was amazing to watch how they kept him distracted...because honestly, it could have gone either way. I'm always so impressed with how people who deal with kids are so good at it.

Wait..you are alone?!? I am so jealous how did you pull that off?!?!

I'd love a weekend of sleep. Ah..oh well.

Holden's hair is getting very unruly..I fear it might be time.

I was...and it was heaven. Well...I mean, I missed them...but....HEAVEN. Let's just say...DH knows to pick his battles when he's suggesting an unnecessary extra, unplanned trip to see his folks.

Of course, now they're back, we all have colds, and nobody's sleeping. Oh well. Smile

Very cute pics Smile I didn't even know you could get your haircut at Disney and that is so very cheap in Disney standards....especially if you compare it to the Bippity Boppity Botique. LOL

Thanks! Yes, I know! Everyone thinks Disney is so crazy expensive, but then you find these hidden values, like haircuts, Zebra Domes (yum!) and School Bread (double yum!)

Hmm. I think I may need a snack.

It's a coconut pastry thingie at the Norway pavilion in Epcot. I'm not a coconut fan, but people love em!
