Halloween Horror Nights Anyone?

Is anyone headed over to Halloween Horror Nights this year? I heard through the grape vine that they had to shut down one of the attractions from the scare zone because it was just too much.

Not in a million years! I would have a heart attack at HHN! I have severe Coulrophobia(fear of clowns) and the last time I was in a haunted house was over 20 years ago in Indiana, PA when I was a teenager. I was kicked out because I punched one of the clowns in the clown room. BUT I did yell for someone to let me out when I saw the clown room and no one would let me out. I also yelled VERY loudly "if anyone touches me I will punch you." A clown grabbed my shoulder and I punched him... a lot! Someone showed me the exit quickly after that!

this had me laughing out loud! I was on a haunted hayride out in the middle of the country one year. I was pressured to go against my will. A guy jumped on our buggy right beside me, I punched him and he fell off.... oops eek NEVER AGAIN!

I will watch a scary movie but I have to be with someone and it better be daylight! I watched The Shining in the middle of the day alone last week. BIG MISTAKE...

I don't do horror. The closest I get is movies like the one with Bruce Willis where the little kid sees dead people. I can't even watch ads for horror movies on TV - gotta close my eyes when they come on. So no, I will never ever ever do Halloween Horror Nights.

the 1 thing I cannot do is live action. If there are people that jump out or stare or get up in your face that's when I start crying. Not ashamed to admit it, I will beg and plead to be released from anything like that. I curl up in a ball sobbing.

I will read scary books, I love scary films, have written a couple of good ghost stories and played a Halloween role when I helped run a riding school (my own story, we used to act it out scaring the kids) I've been to haunted places and researched ghost its and paranormal activities.

Just can't do the horror maze/ live action stuff *shudders*

I agree never in a million years. Cedar Point has Hallow Weekends and we go up Friday nights. They don't have the scare zones open until 8. I love to see the costumes and make-up if not to ghoulish. I will not go through anything scary, I don't like people jumping out at me.
There use to be a hayride in a small town near us years ago that offered a Haunted Hayride. It was great if you didn't want to walk the really haunted part you could stay on the wagon. Then one year they decided that the wagon would get attacked and everyone had to get off and go through the maze. It would have been nice if we were forewarned. Never again I don't like being scared. No scary movies or books for me no matter what time of day!

Great story Annie. Love the disclaimer.

One year a bunch of guys from work all dressed as clowns for Halloween. This one girl I worked with at the time was scared to death of clowns. I'm surprised she made it through the day. Our cubicles were across from one another. I was at my desk and one of the guys was sitting at her's. I didn't see him there. I got off the phone with my client and put my head down in frustration. Next thing I hear was "it's ok, JoAnn" in a very soft voice. I turned around and saw him there and busted out laughing.

Apparently, he sat at my desk and did the same to her. She didn't find it funny.

Add me to the never in a million years club. I don't like horror stuff. I like Halloween but I'm more into the giving out candy to kids and cute costumes (not the point i know Wink ) aspect of it. I'll just stick with watching Amy go through Universal on Ellen laugh

Done it. Wasn't that impressed. Won't do it again. We went last year and I just want to say that I would consider myself in the category that can put up with some amount of scariness, but I will freak out about certain things. The scary parts weren't that bad for me because at Halloween Horror Nights I know they can't touch me so I would just keep that in my mind the whole time. They definitely target girls to get a reaction so I had a couple intense moments but I just kept repeating in my head "they can't touch me"

The reason I won't do it again is the lines. I know that this is a temporary event so they have to make do with what they have but the lines for the houses were absolutely ridiculous. We got there right at opening and never waited less than 30 minutes.. By about an hour in most had posted wait times of 55 min +. (We also went in September so I can only imagine it gets worse the closer to Halloween) And when they had a posted wait it was NEVER less, usually more. The lines were just corral type on concrete with nothing interesting to look at. I felt like we wasted so much time waiting around that I did not get my money's worth. And the houses were interesting but I just felt like I was being rushed through and to be honest they all blended together really quickly. We did get to ride some of the rides that weren't part of HHN so that was cool. And I really liked the Simpsons area since I've never seen it. But those lines really killed it for me.. I could walk and walk and walk and never get sore feet, but when I have to stand around on hard ground, whew my feet are dunzo reallllll quick.

No thank you. I'm the biggest wimp you'll ever meet in your entire life and I get severe anxiety in haunted houses/hayrides and I just panic. I'd definitely would be one of the girls in a scary movie that run off by themselves due to fright and you're sitting there yelling at the TV what an idiot she is. I literally get claustrophobic from being scared and I freak out and run. I had this happen at Valleyfair, the MN theme park, when they were running their ValleyScare event. It was a walk through area and I thought we were almost to the end and I just couldn't take it anymore so I ran. Turns out I was about 1/2 a mile from the exit though and just about every person working the scare zone that I passed turned and ran after me. Worst. Night. Ever.

I was at Universal on opening night for Halloween Horror. I would have stayed for HHN, but it was raining. Not just the normal 4:00-4:15 daily Florida thunderstorm. It was actually raining all day. So we decided to bag it. Thank goodness I hadn't paid for the upgrade of my ticket. My friend and her daughter had made plans to come up from Seminole to spend the day with us at AK on Saturday. When I told her we might do HHN, she decided to come up Fri. We left early and she didn't get there until 6:00 so we didn't meet up at Universal. She said with the rain and long lines she only did 2 haunted houses then left.

Since it's not part of our disney bubble it's not on our plans but I don't care for that side of entertainment. Real life can be scary enough for me.

Put me in the "I'm OUT" camp! No way. I barely want to go to Universal for a regular day. I wouldn't be caught dead at HHN! laugh

Absolutely NOT! But I have seen pictures of it. I am sure that if there is a Hell, it would definitely include swimming in a clown's mouth for all of eternity eek

I haven't been to Universal but I kinda want to go to Halloween Horror Nights just to experience it. One of my friends went the other day to HHN, he had to pay $17 for parking because he was at the auto plaza 7:57pm (apparently at 8:00 they only charge $8) and he waited like an hour to get to that point for parking. Once he was inside the park, he wait like an hour or two for the houses, so he only did like two of the houses. I also wanted to go this year because some of my friends are scare actors for HHN. I can't afford to go.

Thanks for the heads up~I will definitely add Wasco, CA to the "Don't visit EVER" list laugh Based on the title of the link, and the fact that I'd like to sleep again, I won't be clicking on the link.
I was innocently watching the View the other day and without any warning they played a clip of the Clown from the new season of "American Horror Story." eek In my worst nightmares I couldn't come up with a more terrifying Clown! I started screaming "I CAN'T UNSEE IT, I CAN'T UNSEE IT." I scared the #@*& out of my poor cats.

I didn't go this year, but did go to HHN last year with a couple of friends. Now I'm not a massive horror fan, but had read up on the do's and don't's of going to one of these things. The main one I read was:

'do not run from the scare actors...they will take it as a sign that you're scared and will pursue you. If you don't wish to be scared, look them straight in the eye'

I told one of my friends this - she's a screamer...and a clinger...and a hider - and she promptly forgot that piece of advice at first sight of a zombie and screamed, clung on to my waist hiding or just plain hid behind me and the other guy. Of course, the first thing they see is a target and took pleasure in scaring the living daylights out of her at every opportunity!

We went through 4 houses - beginning in the late evening when it was still light and ending them when it was just dark...I swear you could have heard the screams all the way back in England! We didn't even need a scare actor to scare her - spidery things, a little puff of air...anything and everything set her off but the funniest bit was her being chased around us two guys by a zombie because she reacted exactly as expected to a little 'boo!'

I even managed to put off one of the scare actors who I clocked hiding round a corner, ready to pounce on unsuspecting house goers...I stuck my head round the corner and scared the bejesus out of him instead...he looked quite deflated after that but promptly got back to scaring the people behind me! haha!

I'm just like your friend, Sid Man. I know all the rules, I get the concept, and it all makes sense to me until I get in there. Then my mind shuts down and I just go into full on panic. I can't help it!

Ah see I don't get scared at all! One of my close friends works as a scare actor here in one of our theme parks and so I think I've become immune, in fact I spend my time trying to make them break character lol one guy was whipping chains against the wall an then running right up to me trying to scare me (I was the only girl in a long line of guys) I asked if he got to take them home at the end of the night, resulting in him laughing and turning away to try and hide it. They are just actors, remind yourself that every time you jump.
