Help! How is one to know the truth!?!?

Saw that April 21st CMs on the booking department were told to be ready for overtime April 21, May 1-3 (MNSH tickets come out on May1st) so has anyone heard anything else promising.

Another poster (different site) "suggested" people NOT book or release their bookings for Sept so Disney thinks they need to release the promotions, otherwise we are in danger of nothing.

A third site said, it's a done deal and listed release dates BUT the dates don't materialize.

Mark, do you have any info on "late summer/Sept" promos since the current one expired for new bookings.

We are moving into our final retirement place in July and ordered some new furniture (badly needed) and I just want to lock in something so I can budget what I need to pull this trip off.

gaah gaah

How are you to know the truth? That's an easy one - you wait until Disney releases whatever they have in the works and don't plan your vacations merely on rumor.

Plan the vacation that you want. If you end up being able to switch into a better deal that's fantastic, but don't count on it coming out. Disney changes up dates and perks for specials all the time and just because it happened one year is no promise that it will happen the next.

Even though WDWFG is not affiliated with a TA, my personal website is. I went this morning to check my affiliate information and the only thing that I'm seeing right now is a Florida resident discount. I asked last week about the rumored free dining and was told at that point that nothing had been passed on to them about it. It is likely that something will be released, at some point in time, however until Disney says "go" it's no use planning for it.

This exactly. I know we will be going to Disney with or without a discount so I plan and budget accordingly. If a discount comes out then yippee, but if not it will still be a magical vacation! Even people that work at Disney don't know for 100% certain what deals will come out and when because things have been known to change last second. It's silly to stress yourself out over trying to predict deals that aren't out yet.

My parents are also waiting to see if free dining comes out for September. They just decided to wait it out and not book until then. That's really all they can do.

We, however, plan our trips when we want to go regardless of discounts. It is less stressful.

But.... they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true, right??? LOL

sorry, couldn't resist.

I have my trip booked for October with no discounts. I will keep checking to see what discounts if any are released. I'm not planning on changing my dates because of the discounts. I just called to make a payment and asked about AP discounts which there are none. I already knew that based on what is currently on the WDW site. Never hurts to ask.

awesome

Oldtink, listen to exactly what Kristen said. It's not true until Disney says it is. End of discussion. And Disney can change their mind spur of the moment at any time.

When it happens, we will know, we have always found out within hours about pretty much anything like that. You want the truth, wait till Disney tells us. Simple as that.

We book our trip with no discounts to set the budget. If discounts come up then the extra money goes to some other perk I the trip. Last year we added a few more days. This year it would go toward an extra MVMCP. But we at least have a budget to work with. Just think of preparing for the worst and enjoy the best.

Yes, I am aware of the need for accuracy, but I also understand patterns and traditions, so I am waiting, but hopeful.

Hopeful is good mickey and understanding patterns is good mickey
In my 40+ years of traveling to Disney the thing that I have come to understand the most is that those things that many people think are "tradition" can change on a dime, and until Disney says it - everything is subject to change. Sometimes, it's subject to change even after Disney says it (see Hyperion Wharf).

Walt Disney World for Grown-ups tries very hard to maintain a journalistic integrity that doesn't deal in rumor. On the rare occasion that we do cover rumors, we're very clear that what we're talking about is hearsay. That passion for clear information has very much carried over here on the forums and is one of the things that makes our community different from others. When you ask a question like "How is one to know the truth!?!?" We're going to give that to you straight. awesome

My three rules for booking Disney travel are as follows:

1) It isn't fact until Disney says it is and even when Disney says it is it can change.

2) Disney can and will change anything and everything at any moment for any reason or whim.

3) Book the trip you can afford without any discounts/promotions and if it's not the the trip you truly want put the trip off to save up the money so you can book the trip you truly want or decide that you're quite happy and content with the trip you can afford. (this applies to non Disney trips too)
