Hi New to Forum

Hi I am starting to plan a Solo trip to the World. I am a married woman in my mid 50's that has made many trips with family. My children are all adults now and my husband just doesn't get into the magic of DW so I have decided to try going Solo at least once. I am a FL resident and recently bought the Seasonal Weekday pass. With this pass the soonest I will be able to go is the end of August. It is HOT then so I was thinking of waiting till the end of September or sometime in October. The only thing that keeps me from firming up my plans and actually making a reservation now is Hurricane Season and the worry that I might have to cancel because of that. I love to tent camp in Fort Wilderness so that is where I plan to stay. It would be nice to find another Solo adventurer that would like to share a site and split the cost around that time. Not really someone to traipse the parks with just share the camp site to keep costs down.
Anyway, Nice to meet you all Smile

Hi! Sparrowx and welcome to our happy group. We have quite a few of our members that go to the World solo, and I am sure that they will report in so to speak to get aquainted and we also have some of our group that use Ft. Wilderness as well. Thanks for coming aboard with us.

welcome You are mighty woman! You are going to pitch your own tent? That's awesome! I would break the tent poles.

The first time I saw the Fort Wilderness Resort was in January. Those cabins are so neat! The whole resort was so unique, I want to stay there. Hopefully, one year, we can swing that for our family of 4. But my girls are 2 & 4, so no solo trips for me yet. confused But what a great idea, to share the costs!

Welcome. Good for you for taking a solo trip. I've had a few solo days there but never a whole trip. I would so that some day.

Hi and welcome! Disneydoc is taking a solo trip there in just a few days so you are definitely not alone! October is a great time to go if you can hold off until then. We had perfect weather mid October and no rain whatsoever the whole trip!

Hi Sparrowx and welcome!! I firmly believe Disney has a giant glass bubble that automagically descends from the skies if a hurricane comes by! Or ginormous fans emerge from the ground and blow the hurricane in another direction. silly

We often go in mid-September and have been pretty lucky so far.

Welcome to the best WDW forum around! I'd love to take a solo trip sometime. The thought of doing what I wanted to do 100% of the time and not worrying about what others in my group wanted to do....WOW!!

Welcome Sparrowx! I am a solo traveler - this upcoming trip will be my sixth time to the World solo. I LOVE it, but also love meeting up with new friends from this board - big shout out to Julie & Mike!

But I am not hearty enough for tent camping these days. mickey

stars Hello Sparrow! Welcome to our forums. stars

Planning during hurricane season can be scary, you just need to try and be as flexible as possible. I've made several trips in early October and have had beautiful weather, but that's the thing with hurricanes, you just never know when they'll show up.

Welcome, sparrowx! We're glad you've found us!

This is a great forum and I'm very hopeful that you'll find someone on here who is going solo or knows someone who is going solo and wants to share a tent site!

How much do they charge for the tent sites?

Thanks for all the Welcomes! I did finally decide when I want to go and booked for the first week in October. The sites are $48 per night plus tax. I booked for 6 days so splitting the cost would only be a little over $150 for 6 days to stay on Disney Property with all the benefits that come with it! With my FL Residents Weekday Select Pass and the ability to eat a couple of meals a day at my campsite I'll be able to do Disney relatively cheaply yet have a whole lot of fun! I'm going to bring my bicycle so I can completely explore FW. Something I have never been able to do even though I have probably camped there at least 10 times over the years. Now just have to pray for good weather! mickey

stars Welcome Sparrows to the site. I feel your pain, my husband also could care less if he ever went back to DW. We've been 4 times in our 35 years of marriage. I'm always coming up with new ways to go again. We will go again next October, our first time adults only trip with our friends. In five years I'd like to go again and take our grandkids again. I wish he was as Mickeyfied as I am, but he's not. I guess when the priest said, "for better or worse" the worse was us not agreeing on DW. eek

Well, my DBF of 10 years does not get into Disney either, but that has not slowed me up! laugh
