How important is quiet?

When you're on a romantic vacation, or even under normal conditions, how highly does quiet rank on your list of important factors? We spend a pretty good amount of time in the room and I find kids screaming and running around pretty much kills the ability to work or relax. I'm starting to think I haven't been putting enough value on the lack of noise. Does quiet factor into your trip plans?

It depends on where we are. For a sun and beach holiday a quiet room is a must to allow the afternoon siesta, but at Disney we spend so little time in the room it probably wouldn't make much difference provided it wasn't too noisy to sleep at night.

Quiet is VERY important to us. We take every precaution to NOT play the TV loud, NOT run around like a herd of performing elephants, so as to disturb people in the room underneath us, or to the sides, and to put it simply would expect the same in return. We can understand kids yelling and playing at the pool and that is why we always request a room in a QUIET location.
Kids yelling and running in a small cramped resort room I can not understand.

Quiet is one of those things that I don't think about when I'm doing my planning, but that I wish I had when I actually get there.

Haha..it used to be pretty important!

These days I think I'll be the one with the kid running around the room.

Quiet during the day - not as big a deal. I'm a mom. I no longer hear kid noises. Unless the kid noises are coming from my kids. And then only sometimes.

Quiet during the nite - imperative. Because I need to sleep, and so do the kiddoes. So they don't contribute to the noise.

Quiet is pretty important to us. We'll forego a great view or a "preferred room" because those are usually in the middle of the main thoroughfares. I'd much rather have a woods view in a far corner of Wilderness Lodge than have to listen to screams from the pool all day with a courtyard view. Now, if we could kick that napping in the middle of the day habit, we'd probably not mind so much... wink

Hi,

I've stayed in all four values, one moderate, and three deluxe resorts; and while I like quiet as well as the next person, I'm an early riser but a heavy sleeper. Noise usually doesn't bother me unless it's sudden.

Noise during the day doesn't bother me. I'm a teacher, I can tune out kids pretty easily. At night, though, the smallest jarring noise will keep me awake. I say jarring because white noise actually helps me sleep - I keep a fan on every night of the year for the noise. Caitie is such a heavy sleeper that it doesn't matter one way or the other to her.

He goes to bed a 7..but this is after almost an entire year of him NOT sleeping. So it's long deserved.

Quiet is extremely important to me. Especially once I'm in my room. I really need that quiet space to retreat from the world for a while. It makes me crazy when people in neighboring rooms are loud.

It's definitely important! And the biggest problem is that you don't realize how important it is until you're put in a room where you don't have it laugh
