How to tell my little boy he's going to Disney World?

So I'm hoping for some exciting ways to tell my 8 year old that he's going to Disney World with us in August. My father-in-law can no longer go with us, so we're taking Skyler with us. We see him memorial day weekend so I have until then to plan the surprise. Any ideas would be welcome!

I also want to make a "coupon book" so that he can redeem them for special treats and souvenirs while on our trip. We will be on the dining plan so snacks are welcome as well for an idea for a redemption. If anyone has any ideas for a couple of coupons that would be fabulous!

What I already have in mind:
New pirate mickey ears
Mickey Mouse Ice cream bar

Thanks in advance!

Do you have the 2012 planning DVD? Maybe you can tell him you are going to watch a movie and put the DVD in.

I would love to do this, but my husband is horrible at keeping secrets. We tried to do that same kind of thing for our trip to Disneyland last December. I think my husband told him like 2 months before the trip...it just kind of slipped out haha

Just an idea... I just surprised my husband last week by buying a "We're going to Disney World" shirt at disney store online. I then bought a 'treasure chest' from ac moores, and attached the shirt to come up when the treasure chest was opened. I put a pirate flag over the chest for decoration. It took a little prep work, and waiting for shirt to come in, but it was definitely worth it!!

Also, a scavenger hunt leading to a suitcase on the bed ready to be packed? The pizza box? Buried treasure? A homemade video of family photos of past trips, and then the date of the next trip?

I think you should wake him up the morning you are leaving and tell him that you are going to Disney World!! DH and I plan on doing that with our kids (whenever we have them) the first time we take them! I can only imagine how exciting that would be for a kid!! It would definately be the best surprise ever!

Well as I was perusing the cruise activities for the second half of our trip, I saw that I could have Mickey or Goofy call and tell him that he is going on a cruise! So we are going to do that! Then we'll tell him about the other part. He doesn't live with us, so it would create too much confusion to not tell him until the day of the trip as he will be traveling from like 8-9 hours away to get to us before the trip!

That is awesome! I hope you come back and tell us all about his reaction! Tho I love the ideas here as well. Making pepperoni pizza with one giant Mickey (or lots of little Mickeys) was going to be my suggestion. mickey

Oh I love surprises! If you look up some reaction videos on YouTube that could give you a few ideas. Theres a great one where they give the little girl a bag full of goodies and ask her where she thinks she should take them - when she says DisneyWorld they say, 'Ok lets go!' and her reaction is just priceless!

I loved the UK Disney travel adverts, where they did things like write it on the fridge, or have them unwrap a giant poster on the wall saying 'we're going to Walt Disney World' etc, it was awesome! Just remember one thing, however you go about the surprise - make sure you record it!!! awesome
