Howdy Folks!

Good evening everyone! After lurking around and reading the forums for a while I decided I would jump on the band wagon and join up! I found the founds the boards when I was searching the internet for what to do at Disney when you don't have kids. I am glad to have found that the forums have given me the answer I was looking for - whatever you want!

I am a Florida native, living just a couple of hours north of the happiest place on earth. My first ever stuffed animal that I got to pick out myself came from Disney World when I was two. The next trip I made was to parks 25th anniversary where some of my most magical memories come from! After we moved back, I didn't go to the Kingdom again from another 6 years. Disney hosts this thing called grad night - and well, thousands of 17-18 year olds running around the MK until 2 in the morning is not something I recommend unless you are 17 or 18 yourself, great memories for me though. Tack on another 10 years, and finally, I was walking through those magical gates again. This September I went to the Night of Joy event and I believe all I have thought about since is how to get back!

I am planning another trip to return to Night of Joy next September, staying for a week at POR in one of the Roeyal Guest rooms. In the thralls of the Disney magic, I went ahead and bought myself an annual pass, so I am looking forward to several smaller trips down to Disney in the mean time. Maybe even a night or two before the end of the month to meet some of my favorite villains at MNSSHP! Thanks to these forums, I feel like planning my trips will be even more fun! yay

Thanks for having me guys and gals! It is so nice to find a place where I can find planning advice and tips that aren't specifically geared towards families. It is also nice to be able to speak with some people who know so much about the dining and resorts. It is making me even more excited for my next trip Smile

Velcro - Don't be too jealous, I might be close, but somehow it took me a decade to get back there after my Senior trip! As a native I always thought Disney would be too touristy for me to have any fun. I learned that half of the fun is that it IS touristy, I met some great people last time I went alone!

CdnSquirrel - Night of Joy is a two night Christian Music festival that takes over the MK after hours one weekend every September. It is a tremendous amount of fun, they have the biggest names in contemporary Christian music, and when I was there this year I rode Splash Mountain 3 times in a row in a boat by myself never having to get off - something I don't think many WDW visitors can say! (and from what I understand, this is no where near normal even for this event)

My Disney favorites? How do you really pick? Let me try...

Movie - Sleeping Beauty; my family always thought I was crazy because Maleficent is one of my favorite Disney characters. The Lion King might be my second favorite just because every time I see it I remember my mother's face when she caught me and my friends holding my baby sister over the edge of the top bunk while we sang The Circle of Life. It was priceless.

Ride - Not Tower of Terror, I can tell you that much. I still haven't lived down having to take the service elevator down on my family's second trip through! I think my favorite may be the Haunted Mansion though - if nothing else for Grim Grinning Ghosts.

Park- Magic Kingdom hands down. I really love Epcot, and I've never been to Animal Kingdom, but there really is nothing like looking up and seeing the entrance to the MK. mickey

Restaurant - No clue, yet. One of the things I am the most excited about with my new annual pass is getting to try all the wonderful places people talk about. Last time I was at WDW in the daylight I was 10, so my favorite places were most likely anywhere that served chicken tenders.

Resort - Grand Floridian. We stayed there when I was a child, and even though I sometimes wonder if I will ever be able to afford it again, those memories from when I was little will always be some of my best.

Oh, a music festival! Sounds (hehe) like fun. I wonder if the ever have orchestral concerts. I'd like to hear selections from Disney movie soundtracks!

Not to hijack, but There's a great CD called "Mannheim Meets the Mouse", if you're interested in orchestral-type arrangements (although Mannheim Steamroller is not your typical orchestra, if you're not familiar with them). It's Mannheim Steamroller performing a number of classic Disney songs.
