Hey Robyn, sorry to hear about your cat, to some people they're more than just a pet, so best wishes to him. As for the other thing, pay it no mind. Sometimes these 'people' have little in their life to feel good about and try to break other down. Be strong and enjoy what makes you happy. mickey

Thank you everyone for your kind words, you honestly have no idea how much they have helped me. I am a sensitive soul and take things to heart way more than I should. These women are in their 50's, they did it last year to me and another girl (my age) who actually left Facebook and the forum though she's on Facebook again now, after about 6 months away.

O'Malley wasn't good last night and we said our goodbyes to him. Made an appointment for this afternoon for him and then he just proves us wrong and picked up in the day, eating treats (though not real food) drinking lots, using his litter tray and then asking to go out to lay in the sunshine. Called the vets to cancel the appointment and had a chat with the vet who has had another idea for a tablet to try, to stimulate circulation, so we are off there to see him tomorrow. It looks very much likely that he has had a blood clot. Very common in cats with a hyperactive thyroid. We are taking in another cat later this week as well, he was handed over to the vets as the owners didnt want the hassle of trying to medicate him (this one also has a hyper thyroid) when they had a new born baby. Don't even ask me what goes through someone's mind that after they have had a cat for 11 years that they could ever then part with it...

O'Malley and Wilbur seemed to get along ok when they met last week and again this week so fingers crossed it will be a smooth transaction Wink

Thank you so much for thinking of us and O'Malley.

.

Hi Robyn, I hope you don't mind me asking this and you don't need to be specific if you answer this. Are they making personal comments or threats? Or being mean about your opinions? Can you do anything about it, like report them to someone? I 'm not sure who or what but depending on how serious it is, there must be some organisation/legal route to stop cyber bullying? I mean if you were experiencing serious face-to-face bullying you would consider involving the police, right?

Yes I can report them to the police here, they aren't making threats, just being nasty and personally nasty about me to other people, they have been taking the rise out of me for how I look and things I post on the forum. Hubby wants to report them to the police but to be honest I don't want the trouble as all it will do is upset me further, I would rather ignore them (as best I can). What's worse, one of them is a retired police woman! I could report them to Facebook but as I have blocked them I don't actually see the posts myself, it's others who see them. And the girls who did see the posts have now blocked them too as they fell out about it, they stood up for me Smile nice girlies Smile

awesome This is the one good thing that comes out of situations like this: you really do find genuinely good people who will stand up for you and care about you!! When women (I don't know anything about them, but definitely older than me) were picking on me on wedding-related websites a few months ago, there were others who jumped to my defense, and even though the bullying really, really hurt, it's nice to focus on those who care about you: like we do here! <3

O'Malley is still in my prayers...I hope this turn for the better sticks around! crossfingers

Robyn, I really think it is jealousy. You are a very pretty, intelligent girl. They are probably jealous of your Disney trips too! Kat, I can't believe this happened to you too! Hope you are okay now.

Glad to hear O'Malley is doing better! I hope the new medicine works too! So sweet of you to take in a cat whose family has abandoned him. You are a sweet soul!

Wilbur is one lucky kitty to have you come to his rescue. So happy to hear that O'Malley is doing better - good things happen to good people! - Hoping all things continue on an upswing!!

Robin, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and O'Malley. I hope this latest treatment turns things around for him.

Sadly, we lost another cat very unexpectedly this morning. Heather was fine as recently as the weekend. Yesterday I could tell she wasn't feeling well; today she died just as we arrived at the vet. She was 14 or 15 so her loss wasn't a shock, but still was unexpected. Sad times. So I hope your kitty pulls through for you. And good for you for taking in another kitty in need. Wilbur is a lucky cat to have you.

Thinking of hyperthyroidism, one of Heather's kittens (now over 12 years old) has a hyperactive thyroid and is almost impossible to pill. A local pharmacy blends the medication into an ointment that I rub in the inside of her ears twice a day. She purrs because she thinks I'm petting her. Perhaps something like that can be done for Wilbur?

Oh I'm so so sorry to read this about poor Heather Sad sending you a big hug.

There is a new food over here that's been out only a few months that can be used to treat hyperthyroid. We didn't bother changing O'Malley as he was/is good at taking tablets but they have put Wilbur on it and he's doing really well. It's by a company called hills and its call Y/D. might be worth asking the vet about for future cats, though touch wood your other cats don't develop it.

Sadly O'Malley isn't going to make it. He has taken a turn for the worse and I think he might be gone by the morning Sad he can't stay upright anymore and in wetting himself in his sleep. I can barely wake him. It does hurt obviously but I'm trying to focus on how we gave him an extra 10 months on his life, he was going to be put down as he had lots of suspected problems and no one would take him in. He's been very happy with us and now he can go to play with Emily in the sky.

Will upload some pics of him tomorrow on how he looked when he came to us and how much better we made him Smile xxx

Thanks, everyone. And my condolences, Robyn. I hope Heather is up there romping with O'Malley and Emily along with all the others we've lost.
