Illuminations Cruise

We were in WDW in September of last year. We were hanging out on the Boardwalk waiting to watch Illuminations cause we didn't feel like dealing with the park crowd. We had just finished eating at Yachtsman. One of the captains (I'll withhold his name just in case they can get in trouble for this), a very nice fellow, told us that the people who had reserved his boat were no-shows and that we could have the cruise for free.

Not only are those cruises fairly expensive, but they are VERY difficult to actually GET because they are booked so far in advance. Needless to say the fireworks were AWESOME (Illuminations is my favorite) and the experience was just fabulous all around. One of the cool things that could only really happen in WDW.

I wonder how often stuff like that happens... like if it makes sense to hang out down by the dock just in case there's a no-show... Wink

WOW! I love it! Stuff like that can only happen in WDW (probably because that's the only place anyone would pay $300 for a pontoon boat ride... eek biggrin )

We did a fireworks cruise this past April. It was planned late and the only boat we could get was the Breathless. It was my mom's birthday and I was hoping for a pontoon boat and all the decorations, cake, drinks, etc. The Breathless actually worked out better than we could have ever imagined. My dad, brother, and husband fell in love with that boat. We have an amazing view of Illuminations and the captain took us out for a speed cruise once the fireworks were over.

If you ever get a chance to do this I recommend it.

Can't be that hard to convince the men to take the speedboat can it? Are they NASCAR fans?

Ah I read in the pre-trip report Dallas, originally from Mississippi, or you still live in Mississippi?

We currently live in Dallas. Katrina made sure we wouldn't live in Mississippi again! LOL
