January Family Trip and February Princess Half Pre Trip

Well we are now 47 days away from our family trip in January biggrin My parents rent a house for the entire month every year so this year we (along with my brother, sister in law and nephew who will be nine months when we're there) are joining them from the 3-15. Obviously we're staying offsite but we do have a night booked at AKL Jambo for us and my brother and sister in law. My parents will be at the house watching the little guy. I can't plan as much as I usually do this time around because we don't know where we'll be on certain days. We have a few plans but mostly it will be played by ear.

Here's what we have planned so far:
Jan 3- Fly into MCO and pick up a rental car. Drive to the house where my Dad, brother, SIL and nephew will be (they are driving down and my Mom is flying with us).

Jan 8 Erik, my mom and I are running the 5K during marathon weekend. It's my mom's first race so she's pretty excited. The race starts at 6:15am. Not sure what the plans are afterwards yet.

Jan 10 Just Erik and I (and of course Mister Wink ) are running the Half Marathon today. It starts at 5:30am yuck We will probably head back to the house for a nap afterwards and then head to either Epcot or MK. We have an ADR at Chef Mickey's this night to celebrate our race

Jan 12 Check into AKL in the morning then hop the bus to AK. Since this is our only night here we want to spend lots of time at it so we will probably leave AK before it closes at 5.

Jan 13 After we check out we're heading to MK. Since my brother and SIL haven't bought tickets yet (they are undecided on either a 2 day or 3 day ticket), they can't make FP+ yet even though our window opened up last week. So being the nice sister I am Wink I booked a FP+ for the mine train for Erik and I in case it's unavailable when they finally buy their tickets. This way they can use our magicband to ride it.

Jan 15 Fly home while my parents get to stay until the end of the month sad

We are also planning on doing a day at Universal and also taking a drive to Port Canaveral to check out the DCL ships. There may very well be more Disney days for Erik and I. Gotta get use out of those PAP biggrin

The penguin has landed Wink
Our flight was on time and pretty uneventful. We picked up our rental car (a Nissan cube yuck ) and headed to the house where my dad, brother, SIL and nephew were waiting for us. We just got back from publix with SO much food (oh how I love to shop here in the US). Now it's nap time awesome

I am! However, the lack of Disney so far is alarming for me. I'm too used to staying on property laugh
We might brave DTD today though eek

Hey Spook did you go to DTD? Is the parking garage open yet? Is the traffic still horrible? gaah gaah

We went to DTD around 2:30pm. Traffic was actually pretty light. We came in the other way near Disneyquest so I didn't notice if the garage was open. However, the garage was there which it wasn't when we were there in October. They work pretty fast awesome a The weather today was great. Warm and sunny! I think I'm becoming addicted to Goofy Glaciers laugh I saw a bunch of art I liked but the prices were a tad high.

Tomorrow is Universal Studios.

Another nice day. Not as warm as yesterday but we were comfortable in shorts and shirts. We rode Jurassic park and rip saw falls and got soaked! They were fun though. We rode the Hogwarts express and checked out Diagon Alley. The new HP ride was really cool. I would have loved to check out the area more but there were just too many people. We had lunch at Krusty Burger. We also rode ET and were in line for the Mummy but it broke down sad It was a really fun day. Although if I weren't such a huge HP fan, I'd prob skip it.

Tomorrow is a Disney day. FINALLY yay

It was really cool. I loved Weasley Wizard Wheezes ( the twins are my favourite characters). I wanted to get ice cream from Florean but the line was really long. I didn't look in many shops because of the crowds. They had Celestina singing on a stage, the ride was fun and I loved the Hogwarts express. Sadly no dementors showed up.

A web site that many of us might be familiar with indicated that yesterday's crowd levels at Universal were at 6 on a scale of 1-10. When we go next Monday, they are predicting a crowd level of 3. I sure hope they are right!! Same web site is predicting that WDW overall will also have a crowd level of 3 most of next week. That is why we chose that particular time in January to head down to FL!

Yesterday we headed to Epcot. Had FP+ for spaceship earth, test track and captain EO. We were shocked at how busy EO was! The theatre was almost full! We rode living with the land before having lunch at Sunshine Seasons. We split chicken with rice and beans. It was yummy! I got my chocolate macaroon ice cream sandwich from France (I love those). We caught a bit of the lumberjack show. It was ok. We also met a CM from our small city. She was surprised we were from there.
We then walked over to HS to get a final look at the hat. We wandered through one mans dream then took the boat back to Epcot to pick up the car.

Today is breakfast at 'Ohana. It's our first time there and my nephews first time meeting mickey mickey

'ohana was great! The food was good and so were the characters and service. My nephew wasn't afraid of the characters but he wasn't that interested in them either. He is only 9 months though wink
We went to the expo to pick up our race packets. It was very crowded so we didn't hang around. I did get a Dooney bag though mickey We went to an outlet mall this afternoon. Now it's an early bedtime. We have to leave for the 5K at 4:30am eek
