Katie V on the Move!

Oh my gosh - last week was the craziest week!

I know I have mentioned that my youngest daughter Katie will be moving in November, and I am so excited for her. She bought her very first car this week (a Jeep Patriot), she put in job applications for both Walt Disney World and Universal, AND she has found a place to live in Clermont, FL. Two of our good friends in the Disney community, that she has known since she was 12, have a guest suite available that they are going to rent her! It's really happening, my baby is moving out and heading to Florida.

The only downside we can see right now is that she's going to have to dye her hair back to a normal color if she gets an interview with Disney.

She could try a wig for any interviews. Would be a shame to dye it back if she didn't get it. If she got the job then do it. And wow how cool so many positives on the horizon. Hope all goes well

With any luck this is a total step towards getting the whole family there. Even if I have to move them one kid at a time.

Yes!! Mama needs to move! Maybe just start shipping furniture and household goods down until G realized everything is there and not in your house so you *have* to go.

Apparently lots of cast members wear wigs to work to keep their dyed.

I am *SO* excited for my baby girl!

She has interviews already set up at Chicken Guy, House of Blues, Splitsville, Terralina, and Paradisio 37! She didn't even apply at Paradisio 37, the head Chef found her resume online and reached out to her. Terralina is specifically looking for a Pizza Chef, and since she is currently managing a pizza place we have our fingers crossed. She really wants that one, so send as much pixie dust her way as you can.

9 nights until her big move!

Me too! Frontera Cocina just posted to their facebook this morning that they are also hiring, so I sent that information over to her. Today she's doing all her laundry and packing up her room. We leave at 4am on Friday morning, and are taking the weekend to drive down.

She has a solid offer from Champions Gate Red Robin and Terralina. She is over the moon happy about the Terralina offer because that is the job she really wanted. Turns out that they have the same pizza over as the one she has been cooking on and maintaining for the past year and a half. Every place she has interviewed so far has wanted to see more of her. Red Robin offered her a bigger paycheck but fewer hours than Terralina, so she asked Terralina to match their hourly rate and they did! My baby's a baller. I am such a proud mama right now.

Plus she has an offer to come in to do a shadow day at Wolfgang Pucks, which pretty much says that they are going to make her an offer as well. An industry friend of hers told her to schedule the shadow day for Wolfgang Pucks to keep her options open. It's been a very exciting week!

Katie started at Terralina Crafted Italian today as a Pizza Cook! She gets to wear a Chefs Jacket and everything. She looks adorable in her whites, and she will get a restaurant specific one in a couple of weeks.

She is super excited because at orientation she was told that she'll get to go through the Disney Traditions class and get a "Disney Green Card."

I don't know what the card is, Mandy do you know?

The green id is for operating participants, so vendors that aren't operated by Disney but are still on property. It will grant her access to backstage areas. If she gets any discounts, that is how she will get them. I know for the blue ids, cast that work directly for Disney, it is park admission until they receive their passes. For operating participants, it varies depending on the contract their employer has set up with Disney.

Cool! If you do you will have to ask if Katie is making your pizza and see if you can say hi.

She's having a great time down there, except that it took her like 40 minutes just to get off Disney property on her way yesterday. It was crazy crowded. I pointed out that she's essentially working in a big shopping mall on black Friday.

She says that she has been impressing the Chefs with her speed and willingness to learn new stations already. Just working the pizza oven is a significantly slower pace than she is used to having. Apparently most new hires there quit in just a few days, but she's making more money and is responsible for less work than she was at the pizza place here in town. My girl's got juice.

LOL! So it is literally like a US Green Card, she's a Disney immigrant. laugh laugh laugh

When I stopped in while I was down there the waitress told me that they do get Disney tickets, but I'm not sure what sort yet.
