This is just an FYI for anyone who has purchased or wants to purchase Magic Bandits for your magic band. My DH and I just came back from weekend trip to WDW. It was our first time using our magic bands. I had the 3 pack of The Nightmare before Christmas Magic Bandits that I used on my magic band. I noticed that they spun around a lot and they didn't stay attached to the band very well. I asked about this at the store where we bought them and I was told "that's normal, that's what they all do."

Well, within 3 hours, Jack Skellington was missing. It wasn't after any ride because I always checked after rides. It just fell off when I was walking from one place to another. A few hours after that, Zero the dog was missing. Again, it wasn't after a ride. So I am left with one magic bandit and the other 2 didn't even last a whole day.

I don't walk very fast and I certainly don't swing my arms around a lot. If just one fell out, I would say it was an anomaly. But two out of three??!! After my experience with them, I would hesitate to buy magic bandits for active children. The sets range in price from $6.95 to $14.95. That's a lot of money to spend for one day's use. If you do get them, I hope you have better luck than I did.

WOW, there are a lot of posts on this so instead of reading all 423 and since I don't know how to search a specific topic in a thread I will just ask...

We got our bands yesterday yay yay yay yay yay talk about the best text I ever received at work!!!

Here is my question. Joe put his on last night. He has big hands (wears a size 14 ring... that was a pain finding a wedding band) He can get the band on but it is snug. Is there a way to extend them? What is the flap on the back for where it shows you to pull it us? is that just to make it smaller for children? I didn't want to try....

**EDIT** Well DUH. After writing that, I put mine on for the first time and saw the part about peeling it apart LOL so, is there something you can get that expands it?

PS, I'm surprised by how lite they are. Doesn't even feel like I have it on! And it's not really "plastic" like I thought either.

I'm not aware of anything that will make the Magic Band larger, but if there is such a thing, it'll be at any of the WDW gift shops with a "Magic Band" sign outside. They sell everything associated with Magic Bands and would know whether something like that exists.

My DH had the same problem when we first got our magic bands. He's Big too. 6'5, 280, size 16 shoes, built like a linebacker. If your DH fits that description he will be able to wear it, but it might always be a little snug for him. My DH is now used to it, having worn it about 20+ days since we got it, but it bothered him a little at first. I've never found any kind if extender for it.
I however, can't wear mine. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and the slightest touch to my wrist and it feels like the bone is breaking. Also, I can't bend my arms and wrists the way they need to bend to tap my MB to the sensors. So, I just keep my MB in my purse and take it out only when I need it in the FP+ lines. If your DH doesn't like how his MB fits, you could always keep his in your bag/purse and just take it out when he needs it.

Have you encounter any problems doing this? Do you feel you're constantly going in and out of your bag, or is it no worse than having to use the paper ticket?

No, I've never had any problems doing it this way or ever felt it was an inconvenience. I have learned that keeping the band connected(circle shape) in my purse makes it much easier to grab and scan. I just keep it in my hand until I scan it a second time inside the ride and then put it away. No big deal. I have also kept it attached to my cross body bag that I carry and just touch it to the scanner when we get there. But I have to find different ways to do a lot of things because of RA, so some people might find this way of using the MB annoying.
I have gotten a couple weird looks when using the MB like this, but once I give them my best Travis Bickle impersonation "You lookin' at ME?!" they mind their own business laugh

Two magic bands put together should work too. Might even be an interesting look!

Does it seem fairly secure when you attatch it to your bag? Not going to fall off? I'm thinking that this may be the way to go for me.

?? Sorry Mr F don't understand the question, you don't get a band with MM. MM is attached to your existing band or the band you get with your hols.

Ok will clarify,
When you choose your magic bands you get a choice of 5 or 6 colors. I had heard that when you purchase MM you get some additional colors or designs to choose from.

Nope never heard that one. Memory Maker just gets linked to your existing MB.

Learned something new today about the Magic Bands. I don't recall hearing this before and I'll be honest I didn't go thought all 441 comments again on this thread to see if it was mentioned previously.

The max number of characters for the name is 9. If you have more than 9, the name is not printed. A friend of mine got her family's for their trip this month. Her daughter's name wasn't printed.

I didn't know that! It seems weird that they wouldn't only allow you to enter 9 characters or prompt a warning saying that only 9 characters would be allowed.

I know you can customize the name on your MB (along with what color band you want). The name on my reservation was Barbara, but I just got Barb on my band.

This happened to me in February. We renewed our AP in February. When I went on MDE to customize our new bands, the name I wanted was 10 characters. I got a message that said I had too many characters. I can't remember if the message said the name could be up to 9 characters or had to be less than 9 characters, but 9 was definitely in the message.

Well that is good at least! I thought it was weird that they wouldn't warn you!

We just customized our bands for our next trip, and it definitely said no more than 9 characters. However, I don't recall whether this was true in the past.

Oh yeah, the message/warning came up that I had to pick a different name with less characters before MDE would let me finish customizing the bands. I don't remember if it told me I would have no name at all or the name on my account would be automatically put on the band, but there was definitely a warning

They must have changed it after she customized their bands because it let her put her daughter's name which was more than 9 letters. She didn't realize she could have put her daughter's nickname. She thought it had to be the same name as on the reservation. Disney did send her a new band for her daughter with her nickname.

It has always been limited to 9 letters and always had a message saying that under neither it. It never warned anything about no name appearing, but always gave you a warning if you tried to put in to many letters.
