Making Your Mind Up...

Hold on a minute while I scream,...Aaaarrrrggghhhhh. gaah ...So here's the thing..I've always had a habit of looking at menus before actually arriving at a restaurant, therefore my taste buds are already into drive mode..However if I arrive and see my options are no longer available I get so disappointed..Tho once I did arrive at a renown restaurant with my choices in my head and our server announced specials that blew me away..So now to my question..Do you make up your mind before arriving at your ADR, or do you leave it till until you get to the restaurant..?...

Before I book my ADR for any restaurant we look over the menus to make sure there are at least 2 things that we each like. But that is as far as it goes for us.

I usually look at the menu and see if there are a few options that look good. I know a lot of the menus change seasonally so an item I had my eye might not be there. I have always been able to find something wonderful at all the restaurants we have tried. It is very rare that the food disappoints at Disney.

I look at menus first to see if there are options I like. I usually have an idea of what I want to order but sometimes that changes. Depends on what I feel like eating when I get there mickey
I tend to frequent AllEars checking out the menus. And by frequent, I mean every couple days laugh

We do also look at the menus and since we are traveling with friends, we shared the menus before booking to make sure this was to their liking as well.

me and a friend of mine refer to each other as menu studiers! We have to look up the menu no matter where we are going. I am disappointed when we get there and something I am really craving is no longer on the menu, but I usually get over it and pick the 2nd choice!

I will almost always go for the special - ingredients at season's peak, special attention by the chef, suggested wine pairing, and I am seldom disappointed.

I tend to go in blindly, so I won't be disappointed when an item I so badly want is not on the menu that night. I'm about 50/50 on the specials. Mention, Halibut, Scallops or Tuna in that special and I'm "Hooked" awesome

I am with Magic Mirror here.Neither of us are foodie type people (and both teetotal) so whilst we do spend considerable time perusing the menus on another site and discussing where we will be eating we have hardly ever in 11 trips made any ADR's because all the posh eateries just don't interest us.
The only place we thought about for next year was breakfast at Boma but after much humming and haa'ing we decided that the time spent getting there and back and eating would be better spent in the parks making memories you can only get at Disney.Fine dining is available the world over but Disney isn't (in our humble opinion)
Don't get me wrong,if people enjoy fine dining and the whole shebang that goes with it then more power to them.

We always look at the menus, it's part of the whole fun of planning. Normally, I don't say for definite what I'm having, that would be too much, but I have an idea or three. These tend to change depending on the day in the park, what else I've eaten and my mood. Also it depends if I've smelt food in the air, STEAK especially. It's like a nature documentary, one of those ones looking at sharks, when they get the sent of blood in the water it sends them into a feeding frenzy. I NEED MEAT!!! Ha-ha, just made myself hungry. Oops.

I usually know what I'm about to order as there is usually just 1 thing on the menu I can eat Sad I have to check menus before I book and then again just before we leave for disney in case they have changed the menu (as I've made that mistake before).

I'm a very picky eater (but getting better thanks to F&W festival) and i think i could pretty much say I've picked out what I'm having at each of our ADR's (including the buffets!!!!)

so yeah if i went and they changed the menus i think id be sad to say the least!!!!

I do check out the menus however as long as there is some form of fish - salmon or halibut - and chicken I'm good to go. Also I do love anything Italian so there really isn't too much that I won't eat. But I have to say I have to stay away from really spicy or hot food because it really doesn't like me and vice versa.

I check menus before deciding where to book ADRs. However, they're booked so far in advance that by the time we sit down to eat, I've completely forgotten what's on the menu. All I remember is that the menu looked good; that's why I booked the reservation. I'm never disappointed because I don't remember what I wanted anyway. laugh

Amen, Sister! I know many rave about the spicey margarita, but that would need a Tums chaser afterward. Just not in my desired list of things to experience.

I have the same problem! I always read the menu before we go and then it's a huge bummer when something I'm looking forward to is taken off the menu! The duck confit tacos at HBD lounge are a perfect example. I've been dying to try them and now they're not listed on the menu anymore sad However they now have a duck confit burger included in the sliders so I always find a delicious replacement awesome

If I'm looking at a restaurant I haven't been to before, I will usually look to see what they offer before I book.

I'd say in general, before I try a new restaurant, I always look at the reviews first to see if it's even worth going to and if I'm interested in going there. If I am sold that the place is worth going to, then I see their menu online to see their prices and what options they have, if it's available. I usually narrow it down to a two-three recommendations from the reviews and decide which ones that interest me but every once in a while, a craving trumps all.

I look at menus constantly, or else I have get crazy anxiety about not knowing what to order or what they have.

But the only ADR I've made this trip is for Beaches & Cream, and I can't imagine their menu changing drastically.

We look at the menu to get a general idea of what they have and prices (we like to budget out our dining). We usually don't know what we are going to eat until we get there. My DH loves Salmon!! It is so expensive here at home that we rarely have it but on vacation he eats a lot of it. At the Crystal Garden, they had smoked salmon in the breakfast buffet and I swear he would have eaten the whole thing if he could have laugh

I look at the menu before I make an adr to get an idea of what sort of dishes they serve & what sort of sauces & sides they add to entrees but don't get myself set on any particular meal as it's entirely possible that the restaurant will change it's menu before I eat there.
