Mandy's Thanksgiving with boyfriend's parents trip report

I just booked a 4 night stay during Thanksgiving week for my boyfriend, his parents and myself. We are staying at All-Star Sports. Really don't want to stay there because of the refurbishment of the food court but that's all they had available for those dates for the value resorts. We don't really eat at the resort except maybe breakfast or a snack or two. Maybe it won't be as bad as I think. They also mentioned that they arcade isn't available but that's okay too. I think this is his dads first time coming to Disney World and it took a lot of pushing for him to come because he was originally given the wrong numbers so he kept saying it was expensive. But we only asked them to pay a small portion of the trip. We will have the Disney Dining Plan with 1 TS, 1 QSR and 1 Snack per day. We are also thinking about getting photopass+ because his mom wants to get as many pictures as possible of his dad on the trip. My boyfriend is also going to try and set up a ride along at the Richard Petty Driving Experience for his dad.

If we do go ahead and get the photopass+ we will set up either the Crystal Palace or 1900 Park Fare for dinner since they are covered on the photopass+ and the characters are there all day at both. We really like Raglan Road, The Plaza Restaurant, Liberty Tree Tavern, Teppan Edo, Coral Reef and 50s Prime Time Cafe.

His parents would fly in November 26 and that's when we would check in. Then they would fly out November 30. Not really sure which days we would spend in which parks and we would us our ADRs to help guide us. We may go to MVMCP while they are here if there is a party going on. We will be celebrating my boyfriends fathers birthday as well along with his first visit.

I like All-Star Sports. We stayed one night there back in May when his mom was in the state to take his grandma up north.

WHoo hoo! Sounds like fun.

I think you'll be fine without the food court - just make plans to eat somewhere else.

Sports is my favorite all stars and with all adults it shouldn't be that much trouble without the food court.

Sounds like a fun trip!! Hope you have a blast!!

Sounds like a great plan Mandy. Missed getting to Raglan Road last week - love their bread & butter pudding. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it for dessert and it's big enough to share. Enjoy your time off.

BTW - how is your training going?

I'm still working during this time. Training is going good. Haven't done much of anything yet. Tomorrow will be my first day actually doing stuff.

We love Raglan Road. I've gone there just to have a drink at the bar. I got the shepherds pie I think (it was ground beef on top of mashed potatoes) and I didn't like it very much. I like to try new things each time I go.

So I was looking at my reservation for 50s Prime Time Cafe and noticed it was set for after the park closed. I gladly called Disney and they got it fixed. The reservation was for 9:30 pm, park closes at 8:30 pm that day and Disney got us reservations for 7:30. I am currently on the phone with Disney to see why I can't get into my account. When I log into mydisneyexperience it tells me that my account can't be located and to call. The phone number that was listed only had me on hold. I tried a different number and same result. I just called a different number got one person then she transferred me to another person who said I had reservations and saw them then I explained that I can't get into my account at all. Now I'm on hold for the same department I was trying to contact earlier. Guess I'll just sit here and wait until someone answers. The only thing I like about being on hold with Disney is that the songs are fun to listen to.

On the bright side, our magicbands ship out in a couple days yay yay

I finally got everything fixed. I got access to my account but I couldn't link my reservations because it said it was linked to me already. I ended up calling again and turns out I have two accounts assigned to the same email. So now I am trying to see if I can delete the one account.

Today is our last day to customize the bands.

It's a good thing we didn't wait until we got this notification to customize the bands. We would of been out of luck with customizing. We also got the Magical Express tags and vouchers for his parents. One of the ME vouchers has my name on it but I don't need the ME although his mom does.

So do you know if his mom can use the ME voucher even though it has my name on it?

Yes, I think she can as long as you guys are staying in the same room (or at least her bag will end up in your room). BUT if her bag should get lost, remember that your name tag is on it, when Disney tries to track it down (and they do track it down. FAST. So impressed).

Our magicbands were almost delivered today. No one answered the door when the UPS person came. I think they are going to make a second attempt to deliver.

I didn't have purple as a color option...and in the pic yours looked a little more purple so I was hoping maybe they added some color choices waiting

I hope they don't have purple. My mom wanted purple and it wasn't available when I customized ours. If they do now, I'll never hear the end of it. laugh

I saw this picture on doctordisney.com. It is the only site I've found that shows a purple band.
