Many Ways To Monorail Crawl

How do you do your monorail crawls? Do you have a specific order you go in? What all do you do? Do you stick with drinking, or do you include a little food, shopping, and entertainment?

Tell me how you do the monorail crawl!

Also, what are your thoughts on bag check moving to monorail boarding at the hotels? Has this changed the way you think of this activity?

Jen and I started at the Contemporary (Outer Rim and The Wave). We just had drinks. The Outer Rim had snack mix on the table. We then moved to the Poly to the Tambu Lounge. My cousin and her boyfriend met us there and we were going to go to Trader Sam's. We got on the waiting list but was a two hour wait and didn't stick around for it. One of these days I'll make it there. We ordered pot stickers and wings. The last stop was Mizner's at Grand Floridian for another drink.

What she said up there.

*We bussed to MK and took the Monorail to the Contemp.
*At this point I don't really remember the security being an issue (because time has passed not because I was drunk) laugh
*I think I would start at the GF in the future, it's a little more upscale and if you've had a lot by this point there really isn't a "fun" bar at the resort to hang out at. Does that make sense?? I guess you could go out to the pool bar but it was too hot and raining on and off when we were there.
*We took a bus from the GF when we were done.

Also if you are going earlier in the day say around 11 when most of ours were starting, some of the lounges may not be open. Trader Sam's opens at 4, Mizner's 1, Citrico's Lounge 5, etc...

Disclaimer: PSA: Whatever you wanna call it:
Water water water hydrate hydrate hydrate

Take Disney transport or call a cab, lyft or uber!

In the past I've usually started my monorail crawls at the Polynesian, mostly because I like to do one before having dinner at California Grill so I started the furthest away on the loop. I realize that I could be wild and crazy and ride the monorail around more than once, but that screws with my OCD. laugh

Hrmm - I've never included The Wave in my crawl, but I like the atmosphere there much better than at the Outer Rim.

As most of you are DVC members, include "top of the world" lounge at Bay Lake Tower. And the bar at Narcossees is a nice addition to the crawl.

Oh! I didn't even realize that there was a bar you could just walk in to at Narcossees. I may have to do that!

I always start at the Poly because Trader Sam's is the hardest one to get into so I like to show up 1/2 hour before opening.

So - If we want to do inside at Trader Sam's we should be there by 3:30?

I would recommend it, especially if you have a mid to large size group that wants to sit together. It is super small and very popular. They'll give you a pager if they're on a wait, but if you need say 6 spots, they'll buzz you as soon as there are 6 spots open, not necessarily when there are 6 spots open together. We had a group of 6 on our girls trip in April. We watched the 3pm parade on Main Street, hopped on the monorail, and headed straight to the Poly and had no trouble getting a table together at Trader Sams.
