Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour

We are going to the World in May for 5 days with MK being the only park we're hitting twice. I would love to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour, but don't see spending that much time and money when we have little to spare anyway. So my question is: who has been on the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour? $30 seems reasonable to me but is it worth it for what you get? Thanks!

We are planning to do it when we go in October, our friends did it in October and loved it Smile

Um...I think it may be something to think about when I'm there in May. I just read the review done by All Ears on 11/2/2012 and the person who wrote the review had this to say:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Review Date: Fri November 2, 2012 Would you recommend the product? Yes | | Rating: 9

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great history about Walt Disney
Cons:

I took this tour and enjoyed it immensely. There were just 3 of us on this tour so that made it more personal. My tour guide was Robert and he was fantastic! You could tell he admired Walt Disney and knew his history well. We started on Main Street and he talked about how Marceline, MO was the inspiration. Robert talked about several imagineers and how Walt got the most out of people and how people really wanted to do a good job for him. We went through Haunted Mansion and he pointed out several tombstones and tributes. We even got to go under the ride to see how the ballroom scene is done (very cool). We went through each land in the Magic Kingdom and he talked about various things Walt wanted in the parks. We tried to ride Winnie the Pooh but it was down. We ended up at Carousel of Progress (which in my eyes is quintessential Walt. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.
----------------------------------------------------
So like you be very interested to see what someone else has to say before I decide to this.

I did the M to Mk tour in Dec'13.
This is a really affordable tour. About 3 hrs long which was perfect for my sister and me. We pretty much did a walk around the entire park. Got to go on 3 rides: Haunted Mansion, Winnie the Pooh and COP. I'm a Walt Disney fan and a WDW fan so anything anyone wants to tell me about either I'm interested and listening !!

It was my 2nd tour ( I've done the MK Steam Trains tour). That is also really good!

Whoa... You get to go behind the scenes at Haunted Mansion!!??

Can anyone confirm this is still the case? I'll sign up for that in a heartbeat!

Yes, there is ONE behind the scenes in HM.

You'll see it after your ride.

I don't want to give anything away.

But it is cool!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll ask some of the people in my group if they are interested; we can't all go as DS is only 2yo but I think my mom and sister would be interested, as am I!

Ken, did you end up liking this one more or less then the KTTK? I'm planning on taking DH and my sisters on KTTK in September but now I'm thinking this might be an even better option!

Hi Allie!

Yes, we did the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour (MTMK) on Monday morning. It was excellent!

We did KTTK a couple of days prior so were able to make comparisons. Disney advertises the MTMK as the "light" version of KTTK. But I would completely disagree. The two tours are quite different and there really isn't a lot of overlap.

We all wore those wireless headsets that allowed us to hear the tour guide as he narrated throughout. We first went to the Haunted Mansion. This was before the park opened, so nobody was around. We walked through the graveyard queue area learning details about it. Then we rode HM with narration from our guide. Then, the best part was going backstage into the ballroom scene at HM. You basically learn a lot of how HM works and how the effects are done.

We then went to the castle and learned about the details of it's design. Then we rode Winnie the Pooh (I'd never been on it before). The we finished with a private ride on the Carousel of Progress, learning all about that attraction.

The MTMK tour was more about the different lands of MK and the attractions within compared to KTTK. They are both excellent tours and I'd recommend either or both to anyone interested in the details of MK.

I don't know if I'll be able to do this in September, but it's definitely on my Disney bucketlist now. Sounds super awesome!

Thanks for the info, Ken! Both sound awesome so it's really a flip of the coin for me! Maybe we'll see what DH thinks...

Oh, one more thing is that the KTTK tour is significantly longer than MTMK. KTTK is about 5.5 hours and MTMK was about 3 hours. Both involve a lot of walking and standing so that may also be a factor in deciding.

I want to do KTTK, but would have to do it on my own while hubby watches the children. However, if we got a sitter maybe we could both do MTMK together since it's not so long. MTMK would appeal to Iain much more than KTTK as it's more focused on rides.

Well yesterday I booked the Marceline MK tour and because I have a Disney Visa card I got 20% so am happy. Even if that didn't happen from what I have read I was going to do it at 30.00 a person. When I booked for those that don't know you have to be able to walk, some places are dark so you will be walking in the dark, comfortable shoes is a must and you must bring your license. Don't know why they want the license but the girl said we need a photo id. So now I can't wait...this will be my first time doing a tour.

HM. I have KTTK booked for the Monday morning of my PHM trip. I'm wondering if I should book the MTMK tour for another morning?? The thought of going behind the scenes of HM fascinates me, but I must see a utilador in my lifetime. Do you think doing both is overkill??

Definitely not, JMUDukz. We did both this last stay and they are quite different and barely any overlap of information. You will get to ride HM on both tours, but to me, that's a plus! This was also our 2nd time for KTTK and we both still found it enjoyable. I say go for it! wink

I was thinking of booking this tour for my trip later on this month. The only day I could is my last day. Too much to do that morning with packing and airline check-in that it may be too hectic.

Just an FYI: Well when I booked my I based it on the information I found on Pg 273 of my Disney PassPorter and according to that the only do Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. So if you are planning to do it on another day I would check with them as that may not be a day the do this tour.

Thanks Kathy. The only day I would have been able to go is a Tuesday so I guess that takes care of that decision. I'll keep that in mind for my trip in the fall.
