MK Area Restaurants

Hi All,

Will be down in Disney in early November. Going to be going to MK on a Saturday to take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours that keep the place open til 1am!

Question: I think the best plan will be to leave MK for dinner and then head back. Where's a good place to go sit down and relax a bit, and have and have a nice dinner? But not be too far away that we can't head back to the park.

We did Narcoosee's last year. I want to try Cali Grill but my BF has been there already... maybe I could convince him. Would be great to have dinner, see Wishes, and head back in....

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Narcoossee's and Cali Grill are both great ideas. If you want to have some fine dining a la Cali Grill, but give your BF a new option, you might try Citricos. I love the food there, but of course you can't see Wishes.

Ohana is of course my favorite place to watch Wishes and eat. That would be my pick if you can still get it. Ride the Monorail out, have a relaxing dinner and watch Wishes and then head back in. On the minus side, we've been having only so-so experiences there the last few times, and I don't think we're alone.

The Wave and Kona Cafe are also options, but no views from there.

Also, welcome to the boards!

Welcome!

I'd also consider Liberty Tree Tavern. It's not outside of the park, but it's secluded and relaxing, could be a good option as well if it's available. Tony's Town Square is an option too, but I think the food is inferior.

Hi! Welcome! Other good options are over in Wilderness Lodge. You can get a boat there, and Artist Point is extremely relaxing.

There's always Hoop Dee Doo at Fort Wilderness, but I'm not sure if I'd call that "relaxing" so much Wink

I can second suggestions for Citricos and Kona. Both great restaurants and you might still be able to get reservations. You're going during "free dining," so the restaurants are filling up fast.

You can see Wishes from Ohana, from what I've heard they pipe the music in during Wishes but I've never heard it...(I'm seriously bitter..apparently the speakers were broken both times we were there for Wishes..like years apart..I mean come on)..anyway..
Kona is also a great option & then you could view Wishes from the Poly beach.

The idea of watching the fireworks from the beach is a great one. Then you don't have to worry about the view where you eat.

AND it's pretty romantic. You said you were going with BF, which could be boyfriend or best friend, so disregard my comment if it's best friend! laugh

For the record, BF= boyfriend. HOWEVER I do love to snuggle with my BFF Smile

I'm still struggling with this day of my trip. I'm actually struggling with where to eat for the ENTIRE trip. Too many places, not enough days.

Places on my radar: Yachtsmen, Cellier, Flying Fish, Blue Zoo, Il Mulino (again), Jiko

Spending a long weekend down in Disney Nov. 11-15. We're (BF and I, both 29) staying at The Swan. We did a similar quick trip last fall but I got sick the day before we left and was not on my A-game all week. So we need a do over!

Last year we ate at Il Mulino at The Swan, Bistro de Paris (upstairs) and Narcoosee's.

We arrive at 11:30 am on Thursday, so we'll have most of the day free to explore, walk around the Boardwalk/Beach Club area (maybe get a burger at Beaches and Cream), head to Downtown Disney. Any suggestions for dinner in the area? Since we are not bound to a park, we can go anywhere. I was thinking about doing a late dinner at Il Mulino (it was one of the best meals of our lives) and then hanging out on the Boardwalk afterwards. I have also heard great things about Portabellos, and I remember Foulton's Crab House from my youth. Any thoughts?

Here was my idea for the remainder of the trip:

Day 2 - Friday
EARLY -Take cab (?) to Universal. Do Universal and Harry Potter. Can we do all of this in one day? Thinking it is slow season so we should be able to.
Where to eat dinner? Stay at Universal and do City Walk? Head back to resort and do Il Mulino this night instead? Maybe the Yachtsmen Steak House? Never been.

Day 3 - Saturday
MK. Extra Magic Hour keeps the park open until 1 am. So we could go, leave and then come back. This is what my original post was about.

Day 4- Sunday
Epcot all day. I booked Via Napoli at 8:30 to be safe. We'll miss Illuminations.

I know we are cutting MGM (or the studios as it's now called, sorry it will always be MGM to me!) but I REALLY wanted to go to Harry Potter, and I have not been to Universal in YEARS.

Another thought was getting a Hopper ticket for Saturday since MK is open so late (1am). Get to MGM early. Maybe have a late late lunch at Brown Derby and then head over to MK by 6 or so. This might be cramming too much into one day, huh?

Wow this is a long post!! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

There are a number of tasty offerings at DTD but Earl of Sandwich is a MUST, especially if you've never been. There are numerous threads here about how much we love the Earl. If we were only able to eat at DTD once in a trip, it would be at the Earl...seriously, it's that good.

Interesting factiod; I JUST learned the Earl of Sandwich really was founded by the honest-to-goodness EARL OF SANDWICH (DTD being the first location, opening in 2004)!

Ally -- you might want to head over to DHS on Thursday afternoon. You'll be within walking distance, so maybe that's a good day to add in that park. I'd hate for you to miss it! Smile

Portobello is good, but I don't imagine it would hold a candle to Il Mulino. Haven't been to IM, but I've heard great things about it.

Not sure if Universal and Potter can be done in one day. From what I've heard Potter lines are loooong, but maybe doing Universal in the morning and IOA in the afternoon?

Yachtsman Steakhouse is one of my favorites. GREAT steaks and good sides. Very simple, but rich food.

Are you going to Animal Kingdom at all? I didn't see it in the itinerary, but I might have missed it somewhere... That could be a good Saturday morning activity, then head over to MK for the rest of the day.

IMO, Universal and Islands of Adventure would need a day EACH to do properly even before Harry Potter. However if you knew exactly what you wanted to ride/see and got there at rope drop you could do the highlights of both parks.

I wonder if you can't see just a little bit of Illuminations from some of the window tables at Via Napoli... Hmm... confused

Also, I'd hate to be staying at the Swan, see MGM every day, and not be able to go over there. There are such cool rides now, too! Toy Story Mania? You guys have to do that one!

I'm voting to put DHS back in the plans! biggrin

You guys are great! Thank you for the suggestions!

I'm not a huge roller coaster fan, so the main thing I want to do at Islands of Adventure is see HP. Thinking we can go in at opening and do that, maybe one or two other things, and then go over to Universal for the rest of the day.

We've narrowed it down to a few places but I'm not sure how to fit them in. Well there are more "places" than nights so they won't all fit.

Il Mulino

Blue Zoo (BF wants to go, I'm fine with just having drinks here since we're staying so close)

Fulton's

Yachtsman (men?)

Something at Epcot. Le Cellier was booked of course. Made a reservation at Via Napoli but I'm not married to it. I would do the downstairs Paris restaurant because I LOVE French food and I think it would be romantic for the last night. But we did the Bistro upstairs so my guy is not that into it.

I DO want to go back to MGM, but I think it would be too much to do in one day with MK, and I really like the idea of having the first day to just CHILL.

The HP roller coaster that used to be Dueling Dragons was great and I hear the line area is even better than it was before. It was amazingly long before, so you should have lots of time to have some fun even if you're not a rollercoaster fan.

We love Yachtsman, but a lot of people are crazy for Fulton's. I also think there's a lot to be said for eating in your resort. Of course the walk to Yachtsman is not exactly long either.

I haven't tried out Il Mulino yet, so you'll have to give us a review if you pick that one.

I think this sounds good -- also a big fan of leaving time open to relax. HUGE benefit on a Disney trip, especially a short one.

Looking forward to your thoughts on Fulton's. Do you guys like seafood?
