I was going to take my daughter to MVMCP, but I am experiencing some sticker shock at the increase, especially after upgrading on the resort. Tough decisions here!

OMG, I just want to rip my eyes out today or get rid of all the Disney related facebook pages. Several people are complaining about the ticket price hike for these event and its driving me up a wall. My take on it is if you don't want to pay don't go. Its simple I didn't even think twice about it, even though my night was not that much more than we paid years ago. Disney has to pay everyone that works the event, pay for the candy, to run the rides, do the shows, run the parades. As the cost of living goes up so does the price for the tickets. All I can say to those complaining is MORE ROOM FOR US! Sorry! Its the same thing like JMed was talking about with the "I'm never going to Disney again!" post. Then see ya! more room for me! I know its pricey but Disney is pretty pricey in itself. This is a hard ticket event that has only so many tickets. I mean Club Villain is $139 a person and its just a show and food! No parade or fireworks or low lines for rides! And people still pay to go!
Sorry! I apologize in advance this is end of my rant. I feel like this is the only place I can vent where people will actually get it. I have argued with people on Facebook about it today and find its pointless.

I see your point, FutureMrsHurst. It is definitely a vacation that you know is going to cost you some decent money, and you prepare for that. Having said that, I paid $74 last for the party; this year it is $91 for the same dates. To me, personally, that is a crazy jump and I get that they have to pay people and all that, but they managed to do the same thing for $17 less a person in 2015. Will I stop going to Disney? Nope. Do I have a right to get exasperated at some point when it is just increase after increase? Hell yeah.

And I like I said in the beginning, I see your point. I really do. People complaining all the time drive me nuts, but at some point, the Disney lovers might get frustrated and I personally think this year has been a tad overwhelming with increases and changes (some good, some not so good).

I am still on the fence. I looked into the Family Magic Tour, so I might do that with a special dinner instead of the party. We have gone to MNSSHP 2x, and I am not a huge Christmas lover. Not huge enough for $91/person. All these hard choices! wink

I definitely see your point there. I guess mine price increase wasn't as bad. We paid around $60 a person five years ago and it paid $72 a person yesterday. I was a little upset that they didn't seem to offer as many discounts, last year when I was preparing for everything and watching stuff they offered a discounted price for Disney Visa Card holders so I got one. I still love my Visa card but there is no discount for cardholders this year, and I guess many dates don't have AP discounts either.
But I feel like there are lot more expensive things you can do in Disney that you don't get as much. For instance Hoop Dee Doo Review. Now I haven't been in years, it was a fabulous show and because its our honeymoon and I want Adam to see it I bought tickets in tier one. It cost $144.00 for both of us for dinner and a show. MNSSHP cost us 157, for two parades during the night, fireworks, special character meet and greets, candy, Hocus Pocus Show, special treats, more time in the park, and (hopefully but not guaranteed) low lines for the rides. Same thing with Club Villain its 139 per person and no child pricing, for dinner, drinks, and a show. But not a lot of people are complaining about the cost of those. And I know Hoop Dee Doo went up A LOT because when we went years ago, I went when I was about 10 and 12, it was like $40 a person. I paid 70. I might not do Hoop Dee Doo again, but I wanted to do it at least one time again.

MNSSHP, is a limited hard ticket event, like the other events I mentioned. I feel like it is one of the more expensive plus items to do at Disney. I understand it might be harder for families to do because of the price increase seems so high, but prices do increase. The things that were being said about Disney having pour taste and making it harder for families and that this is not what Walt was envisioning were a little hard to take yesterday and seemed to be taking the magic about it away. Fact is Disney is a company and in order to make things awesome and keep things going they have to make money to do it. They could have no released room discounts or free dining which is that time of year for both parties, which saved people a lot of money, but they still did release those. I ended up saving $600 on a room discount. So in end that has paid for some of the more expensive things I want to do.
It was just really irritating yesterday, to turn on my phone and hear people down talk Disney so much for a price increase and saying how horrible it was.

I could go on the 25th but $91 really chaps my cheeks. I do love trick or treating and the MNSSHP fireworks. They are the really good, I use to think the were the best ever but having seen the NYE fireworks I've had to move the down on my list.

Is anyone planning going? I'm not going full pirate on the cruise so I'll probably not be dressing up for this one.

Just an FYI, today when going into Hollywood Studios, they did announce that anyone over 14 yoa in costume would have to remove the costume because they are not allowed in to Disney parks. Just wanted to let you know that before you got here.

Mr Hub I wonder if that was just because it was a non-holiday event? That on a day - to - day basis adults can't wear costumes in the park? The release for MNSSHP states adult costumes (with restrictions) are still allowed for the halloween event. ?
confused

Dee, we are going Tuesday night (25th) - Originally, I was going to surprise Amy and go two nights-but with the new rise in ticket prices..one will have to do!

I'm not planning on dressing up. I'll buy a ticket for the 25th. I'm still hoping to extend my trip until the 27th or 28th. crossfingers
