I have gone back and forth about whether or not to go. We have 9 people, so it would be over $500. As of now, I have taken it off the itinerary.....again......but I may add it back.

If we go it will be Nov. 17, 21 or 22. I have to decide in the next few days before I make my ADRs because adding it could change our entire schedule.

Someone talk me into it or out of doing MVMCP once and for all.

This is my first trip as an adult and the first trip for everyone else. Our party includes DW, both my parents, DWs brotehr, DS17, DD15, DS13, DD8 and me. We will be arriving the evening of Nov. 16th (no park that day) and leaving on the morning of the 25th (Mon. before Thanksgiving). We have 6 day MTW tickets (without PH) so we have a couple of off days during the trip.

MVMCP is offered on Sun (1st one), Thu and Fri during our trip.
Our tentative schedule looks like this.

Sat - Arrive late afternoon/early evening
Sun - RD MK (hope to get 8:05 ADR at CP) - evening off
Mon - RD EP FW day - evening off - Possible dinner ADR at Ohana
Tue - Off day - Sleep in then DTD/DQ
Wed - RD MK - break - MSEP/Wishes
Thu - Late start EP WS day - Illuminations (ADR at Biergarten)
Fri - Off day - If we feel up to it some of us thrill seekers/HP fans may do IOA.
Sat - RD AK
Sun - HS - Fantasmic!
Mon - Check out - shopping and lunch at DTD - leave

DW and Grandma also want me to make an appt for the to take DD8 to BBB. If we do MVMCP, we might try to do it on that day so she is dressed for the party.

I don't know if adding MVMCP is a waste of our money for a first trip. I don't want to add too much, however, we do have a somewhat long trip and have scheduled off times. Every time I think I have made up my mind one way or the other on this, I start 2nd guessing.

It's a hard decision, because it can be a lot of extra money. However, I looked at it like buying an extra day's ticket. Instead of buying a ticket for the day I'm going to the MVMCP, I will just relax around the resort, maybe do some DTD and resort hopping, then head to MK for the festivities. I would say the deciding factor comes down to whether you think you'll be there again during Christmas time. If you go frequently, maybe it's something you can put off until another trip. However, if not, I say go for it!! Have the experience!! Disney at Christmas is so pretty and extra magical!! (Does that help talk you into it?? if not, let me know, I'll try harder! muchlove )

I don't know if or when we will be back at Christmas. This is our first family vacation in many years that was more than just a day or 2 at the beach. However, we are now in the position of having a little more disposable income and a little more vacation time available every year. We are planning on having a significant family vacation every year now, for the next several years at least. However, it probably won't always be WDW. I just don't want to make the mistake of adding in to much on this trip. Maybe I will add in MVMCP and take out our day at Universal. Although DS17 and I are really looking forward to Universal. I don't think the others care that much if we do it our not.

I just read some pretty scary reviews of MVMCP over on allears... People saying how crowded it is and how non-exclusive it's gotten...That they do have CM's checking wrist bands but when they sell out the event the crowds are out of control... Long waits and everything... Sad. I'm so disappointed because I really wanted to check it out... But after reading those reviews, I'm not sure it's worth the extra money.... I think i'd rather use it for an excursion of some kind... Like an animal kingdom tour.

Karli you have to take into consideration when they go to the party too! How close to the holiday did they go? We have gone to both the MNNSHP & MVMCP and had wonderful times, hardly any waits at the rides, low crowds so its not bad all the time. When people talk about the parties being that bad I sometimes think " what dimension where they in because it wasn't like that when we were there!"

Just like anything else, you hear a lot about the bad reviews, not many about the good ones.

Karlipants....This is a blog post from touringplans.com they list the least crowded parties. The week you (and i)are there seems like the parties are pretty slow, this article helped us pick out the day we would go. Maybe this will help you choose

This is the link that I read those scary reviews from: http://land.allears.net/reviewpost/showproduct.php?product=221&cat=72

It seems that some of the dates they chose were early on...

I will check the schedule that petrie sent me and see if there's a less crowded night to go while we are there, thanks for that! Smile

If we stick with the plan to do MVMCP, it will be Thursday, November 21. According to the touringplans.com article petriedish posted above, this date shouldn't be too crowded.
