Nicer hotels on romantic trips?

If you were doing a romantic (an anniversary, say) trip, would you be more likely to spring for a nicer resort? Or would you rather use the same money to stay longer or do other special stuff? While I think Pop Century is a great value, I'm not sure it conveys romance...

I may go moderate so some nicer meals can be had and then it seems a bit more romantic.

My Boyfriend and I have both been to Disney many times but never together. We opted for POFQ this summer as it has a nice atmosphere and is a bit less chaotic than some other resorts. Plus, just walking the grounds there is something to do!

However, if this is a stretch budget wise, the best thing about Disney is you aren't at the hotel that often and there are just as many romantic things to do at the parks...like eat your way around the world!

But I do love and recommend POFQ!

I think the romantic trip justifies a little extra money on the hotel. But generally it's always hard to spend that much money if you just sleep in the hotel. We tend to relax there quite a bit, but it still seems like a value can meet our needs. If it's a super-special event like a 10th or 25th anniversary, where you really want to do it up, it would be really nice to stay in the Poly, or even the AKL.

You know we're hotel people, so we love to splurge on the hotel and enjoy it all week long. And I do find the deluxes to be romantic -- I think it's because so much effort goes into "setting a tone" for the resort that you just feel whisked away.

I think I have a new goal now, thanks to you! laugh What a wonderful trip to look forward to and plan for.

I can't wait until they come out with some more information about Aulani. Being limited to the concept art is killing me! I wanna see some finished rooms!

Warning....watch staying at nicer hotels for "special" trips. It will spoil you lol. I was always very happy staying in the Carribbean until Mr Hub insisted we stay at the Poly for one of our trips. Now I am afraid there is just no going back.

rolling

This is good advice! I feel the same way, although I can usually sell myself on getting more days out of the trip.
