Number One Off-Property Thing You'd Like To Do

So I remember we talked a while back about the Titanic Experience and it sounded kind of interesting. I think that may be the biggest lure off-property I haven't been to. Other than Harry Potter I suppose, but I'm excluding Universal for the purposes of this conversation. If you were going to venture to a non-park has anything ever caught your eye?

Well..... call me weird... but I want to see a TNA event. I know you said excluding Universal, but since its taped there, I have no other choice... lol. Id like to go and see TNA live since it doesnt travel much.

Other than that... some outlet mall shopping would be a lot of fun. When I was little we stayed off property and one of the cool things we did was go to a couple malls and went shopping. I always like to go see other malls.

Awwwwwwwww.... they got rid of it... but everyone should call anyways because its highly entertaining... lol

It use to be... Press 4 for Spanish. You pressed it, and the guy would go on to say... "Well... we dont speak Spanish here, but come on in and enjoy our park anyways!"

I didn't get an option for Spanish but it was still well worth the call. Made me want to go to Gatorland even more.

We went to Gatorland years ago when the boys were still young. Mr Hub and the boys loved it. I was not so thrilled with it though. Too many creepy yukky critters for my liking. The walking path through the swamp was almost more than I could handle. I was so convinced a gator would jump up and grab one of us.

I forgot to mention, we have also seen the Titan Experience although we did not see it in Florida. I really enjoyed it. I would recommend seeing it if you have any interest at all in it. It is very well done. You are given a name of a real passenger aboard the Titanic as you start the tour. At the end, you can see if you lived or died.

Kennedy Space Centre is definately worth the trip, if you're going that far then Swimming with Manatee's is well worth it too. Staying within the Orlando area, I want to try Kissimmee Old Town when they have the car shows at the weekends.

We have seen the Titanic experience in Branson, Missouri and it was very interesting.

I would definitely leave for Kennedy Space Center, we love it. We did Sea World once and I would like to do it again. Sometimes I think it is fun just to drive down the strip.

Since I live here I'll offer some options Smile

The Kennedy Space is great! We went all the time growing up...especially if you will be here during the last 2 shuttle launches!

St. Augustine is beautiful and a lot of fun. Tons of stuff to see and explore like the Fort and the Old Schoolhouse, they also have ghost tours, etc. Must eats here include the Columbian Restaurant and Osteens (my favorite!!!!!)

If you like to shop the Millenia Mall is like heaven! (but really its great shopping and they have a Cheesecake Factory and PF Changs). There are also two different really good outlet malls (one is at the east end of I-4 and the other closer to Disney).

If you are a race fan the Daytona International Speedway offers tours.

Seaworld and Universal are both fun! And Aquatica is a great waterpark!

And of course the beach!

As a native we tend to avoid I-drive (except to eat a Maggiano's) because it is always crowded (especially during the summer!)

I suppose I should answer the question. For me it's easy..the outlets..the fancy ones. I heart shopping & I even more heart shopping at a discount.

Other than HP of course.

A live TNA event
Daytona!!!

Holy cow.... That is a lot, LoL. Not to mention a wonderful day at a great beach..

I second everything Kayb said, although I have a preference for the outlet mall at the end of I-drive, vs the ones closer to Disney (which I think I've said before.) They're nicer, neater, and seem to have better deals. And they're slightly easier to get in and out of (although both locations can be a BEAR to leave if there's a lot of traffic, so plan accordingly.)

Peg - I've also heard good things about Discovery Cove! Let us know if you try it.

And I heart Daytona - it's the beach I grew up visiting, so inevitably, all other beaches are compared to it.

laugh laugh As far as I know there is no Jello involved. Dave used to watch it on TV but he doesn't anymore..thank the lawd! If you're into wrestling I think it's fun.
Dave is one of these wrestling elites (did you know there was such a thing?!? Me either) He doesn't like WWE anymore..for some reason.

the only thing I can think of that I want to try off property (and also the only thing I ever looked in to actually doing) was traveling to Sarasota (I guess about 2hrs away?) to Munchies 420 Cafe for the sandwhiches I saw on Man vs Food.

they looked sooo good!

I'm with you on St. Augustine. What a pretty town. I'm headed there next week and DEFINITELY going to O'Steens... best fried shrimp anywhere.
