Our Disney-Themed Wedding! UPDATED: We tied the knot!!

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I posted on here--for those who don't know, hi, I'm Kat, I'm getting married in May and we're honeymooning 4 nights at WDW (POR) and going on a 3 night Disney Dream cruise! What I haven't talked about much on here is our Disney-themed wedding, so I wanted to share a little about it with all y'all! My fiance and I absolutely love fairytales and Disney stories: we watched Tangled together on one of our very first dates, and we reminded each other a lot of the characters. Even before we started wedding planning, we knew a Disney-themed wedding would be perfectly "us"!

Since we live in the Midwest and both have large, close-knit families, we couldn't afford to actually do our wedding AT Disney World, we'll be getting married at my home church in MI, combining the sacredness and spirituality of the actual ceremony with our Disney Tangled theme. We're on a tight budget so it's definitely a labor of love. My mom is making ALL the dresses, including mine which is a replica of Rapunzel's in "Tangled Ever After", the vests for the guys, my fiance's Flynn Rider-inspired white and gold vest, and our bridesmaid's dresses which are based on each of their favorite Disney princesses (we have a Belle, Cinderella, Tiana, Aurora, Alice in Wonderland--OK, not really a princess, but still, Merida, & Snow White). I'm making a ton of other decorations and we're incorporating a lot of ribbon (ribbon..."tangled"...get it? Tongue Also, I really love the look of ribbon!). We'll be getting married early in the afternoon followed by lunch, dancing, and then off to our happily ever after...AKA our Disney honeymoon (well, a hotel by the airport to fly out the next day, but same thing, right?).

I know plenty of people (but not you guys--I've always found you all so friendly and supportive!) think we're crazy for having a Disney theme--I was previously blogging about my wedding on a big wedding blog but stepped down because no one really understood our vision and thought we were crazy for our Disney love. But I figure this is one place I definitely wanted to share it! More details will be coming soon as it all comes together, and after the day I'll recap it here as well: that is, if you're still interested by then Smile

I love your idea! Your mom sounds awesome, making your attire!

Do you have a cake topper? We had a Mickey and Minnie one! Just an idea if you don't have one yet! I bet you could even get a Tangled one!

Have fun! Your honeymoon sounds great! We had ours for 4 nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge! It was so pretty and loads of fun!

Oh! Wear your Minnie and Mickey ears! If you don't get them in advance, get them at the first store in Magic Kingdom...They gave us ours for free! They look for grand marshals for parades at MK and AK, so have them on and you just may get picked!

I think you were on wedding bee and people were giving you hell. I'm sorry girl. I love your theme. I'm a crazy disney lover too though. We are lucky enough to be able to afford a small/medium disney wedding. We're anticipating about 45 people. I am picking a Disney theme too Smile. Please share photos Laughing out loud.

Yes! Please share photos with us after your big day!

I think your Disney/Tangled theme sounds fantastic, and poo on the non-Disneyfied nay sayers. laugh

It's your day, not theirs! I love hearing about Disney Weddings and Honeymoons, they are always so wonderful and full of joy. We have several Disney Brides on our forum so feel free to post whatever you would like. I love that your Bridesmaids are all going to be their favorite princess!

Thanks all! I'm excited to share all the details with you here! Less than 4 months away...I still can't believe it; I have so much planing still to do!

Dewingedpixie: Yup, I was on there--I honestly am glad I left; it obviously wasn't the right venue for me to share my plans but I have so much respect for everyone who still blogs there. I can't wait to hear more about your Disney-themed wedding, too: you're actually doing it at Disney? Lucky! The maximum I could afford at Disney would be one of the packages for under 20 guests and I have way more family and friends that want to attend than that! What's your theme?

Andreas: Your cake is gorgeous; I love your cake topper! We're actually having cupcakes, not a cake, so we don't have need for a cake topper, but we do have mini-wedding-figures of Flynn and Rapunzel we plan to integrate somehow. And that's so cool that you got the ears for free: we actually ordered ours in advance so we could wear them for some of our engagement pictures!

We were going to do one of those tiny packages but we had so many people say on both side oo we want to come! We moved our wedding out 6 months and will do a bigger package, we expect about 45 people.

Our theme was going to be NBC when the wedding was in october Sad. Since its february we are leaning towards B&B but with purple rather than blue. So the colors will be mainly purple with red, and then gold accents. I'm going to have to ask my father for the date we are considering as it is his 60th birthday. Its also the day of the DP half marathon, and yes my intention is to run it before my wedding. I am that crazy.

Pixie: Purple, red and gold sound beautiful!! (Though I love Nightmare before Christmas, too, but I understand wanting to do it with more guests!). And woah, holy awesome that you're running the marathon--I am NOT a runner, but what an adrenaline rush the day before your wedding!! Laughing out loud

Kristen: Aww, thank you! We are cute occasionally Wink

Free Mickey Ears? How? What?

Haha, well our friend put money on our disney honeymoon gift card for them, but when we got to the park our first night we asked where we could find them. A cast member pointed us towards the first actual shop in MK, and we were greeted right away. The CMs asked how we were and what brought us in, and after we told them we were there for the bride and groom ears, the manager told someone to go get them, and told us Congratulations and that they were on the house, and to enjoy our trip.

Kat-I love your picture! So cute!

Oh wow, Spook, that's so beautiful!! Unfortunately my hair is short like hers is at the end of the movie, but otherwise I'd totally go for that awesome style! muchlove

And I totally need to get around to actually posting some pictures of the projects I've started on...soon, I promise!

I might have to steal this for my B&B themed wedding. My hair is past my waist to my behind. I've been trying to figure out what to do with it and something like this has been in my mind's eye. I'll just switch the flowers for crystals Laughing out loud

We spent our honeymoon at AKL too! Despite the fact we were on our honeymoon, I think we fell in love all over again while we were there!

DO NOT forget to get your "Just Married" buttons! You both will be amazed at the comments and congratulations you get from all the CM's (think they are trained to look for stuff like that! lol) Love the ears!
