Oz The Great and Powerful

Who has seen this already? I'm dying to go but haven't found the time yet. Any thoughts?

I saw it opening day with my fiance and we both really enjoyed it! Honestly the only complaint I have is the casting of James Franco as the wizard--he does really well in the beginning where he's supposed to be this smarmy trickster, but he's not so believable as the hero as the movie goes on (he just stays kind of greasy, at least to me). That being said, it's an incredible movie and I'll definitely buy it when it comes out--the plot is awesome; cinematically it's beautiful; and there are some AWESOME characters--I want to adopt the little monkey and we can be best friends! And the China Girl too!

I agree with everything Kat said. We saw it this past weekend and loved almost everything about it...only James Franco was a bit iffy. I like James Franco, but also think there may have been someone better for the role...Robert Downey, Jr. perhaps?...lol. I loved the little China Doll as well...super cute Smile

I was wondering how James Franco would do in that role. I'm generally not a huge fan of his but I'm trying to go in with an open mind on this one as I really want to like the movie!

Big fan of the original from back in the day, just hoping it lives up to the legend when we see it this weekend.

Does anyone think that Disney might come out with a sequel? I'm thinking it's there if they really wanted to. My boyfriend thinks it's fine the way it is. Just this one movie. Since all the questions were answered and there wasn't any loose ends. I want to see where the relationship between Glenda and Oz goes. Not all movies need a sequel but I think this one could have one if Disney wanted to.

I wonder if Disney considers it a commercial success. It garnered a lot of buzz before it opened, and then everything kind of died out. I liked it; I thought it was a cool movie. James Franco was kind of dorky, but overall, I thought it was interesting and I would totally check out a sequel. The question is: does money think it's worth it to plunk down more money towards another one?

It was a success but not sure if a sequel would be welcomed or if they should just leave it. I'm always wondering what happens next no matter what movie I watch.
