Polynesian DVC

I have just read that the Bora Bungalows at the Polynesian will cost between $2100 and $2900 per NIGHT!!! eek

I am not a DVC member so I don't fully understand the value of points but a week long stay will be between 841 and 1439 points. Points being $160 each. Sounds like a heck of a lot of points?

Yeah those prices and Point rates are ridiculous. As much as we love the Poly, I think we will just keep paying out of pocket to stay there for now, unless we hit the lottery.

Oh my god - I only have 185 points a year.
They want 115 point a night in the slowest season!
I think my heart just stopped.

Received an invitation to preview Poly next week. Not sure if we will have time. But it is not the actual, it is over at DVC at Saratoga. We were allowed to tour GFV the day before they opened and it was fabulous!! Haven't stayed there yet...but tell me does feces come with each of the rooms? eek

After visiting the DVC website, it appears that the Bora Bungalows are right on the Seven Seas Lagoon. The deluxe studios are probably in one of the long houses and the points appear to be much more reasonable. Maybe even a tad cheaper than GFV deluxe studios. Poly sleeps five and has a split bath much like DCL ships, although I think it said there is a tub and a shower. It is also possible to get connecting studios, which means there is a potential of accommodating 10 people!! However there is no full kitchen or washer/dryer. Maybe I need to find the time to go & then report back!! There are 360 studios and 20 bungalows. Sounding better & better

The studios aren't too bad, but we won't be enjoying a 2BR anytime soon!

I got the promotional material to buy here in the mail yesterday. I must say that I really like the look of these, I would be *very* comfortable there and that view from the Bungalows - OMG. The studios, we might stay there some day if just two of us are traveling and we want to splurge. This is such a tough one for me, I love the Poly so much but at these prices DVC really needs to step up its game. These bungalows should be concierge rooms.

I think the bungalows are lovely but the point of DVC is a home from home. The villas are set up with a stay of several days/weeks in mind, hence full kitchens, large fridges, washer/dryer etc.
There are a few super-rich people who would splash out with points or cash for a week in the villas, but most normal families with a bit of extra cash/points who wanted to treat themselves to a special experience would probably only book one night in a bungalow and then move to less expensive accommodation for the rest of their stay. Therefore, I don't think the bungalows will work the way Disney expects them too. I think housekeeping will constantly be turning them round for a new set of guests every day and a lot of the facilities will not be used. If I had paid $2100 I am not going to spend my time there cooking or washing!!!

I got my promo DVC info today too and also think that it is too point rich for my blood. I would rather keep shooting for a GF ot BLT studio with my current points.

Left yesterday after spending three nights in a BLT studio. It is one of my home resorts. Although the studios are much smaller than Kidani or Saratoga it is great being able to walk to MK in 10 minutes..location, location, location!! However walking back to BLT from MK at the end of a long day takes about an hour. laugh

We got ours also and the invite to go see the rooms. Scheduled our visit for Wednesday, but we are not buying. I will say again, I wish they just built a new building for the DVC at the Poly. I do like the what they built, we are big on getting a one bedroom to have a washer and dryer and they have none at the Poly DVC.

Right now a studio is perfect for us so I'm very excited to be able to stay at Poly eventually mickey
However, I agree the bungalows are overpriced. But I don't think I'd like sleeping over water anyway...

And cockroaches! I will never forget getting the boat back to mk from the poly one night at dusk, I ended up walking up and down rather than standing still as there were so many cockroaches there and I was worried they were gonna crawl up my legs!!

Oh my lord and the roaches in Disney (excuse me - "palmetto bugs") have life bars. One actually attacked me daughter one year, she stepped on it and kicked it three times and it kept coming after her. WOW!! I'm wanting to stay in a bungalow less and less.

Well honestly, as many years as we have stayed at the Poly, never noticed a cockroach and never got bit by a mosquito! Gators I have seen, but never on a beach or the grounds of the Poly. We are always on the dock because we usually take the boat to the MK, and we hang out there to watch the Fireworks, it's better than the beach.
