Public Displays of Affection at WDW

What are your thoughts on Public Displays of Affection at WDW? Maybe we're just old-fashioned, but we usually don't do much besides hand-holding in the park. I have, however, seen some pretty extensive displays from time to time!

Good? Bad? Indifferent?

Heavy 'petting' can be embarasing to watch, but it's nice to see couples relaxed and close enough to hold hands and share a quick 'peck' kiss or hug infront of others, especially when it's an older couple who have managed to keep thier relationship alive.

I agree. I love to see people happy, but not "overly happy".

We are sooo not PDA types of people...we barely hold hands. Heaving petting makes me queasy.PDA just isn't for us..I dont love watching it but I don't judge..whatever floats your boat.

I don't mind displays of affection so long as they are appropriate. DW and I both get all mushy every time we see an elderly couple holding hands or otherwise being affectionate.

Every year the gay movement has it's special day at Disney. In 1995,unknowing about the weekend event, we were there. Talk about public displays of affection!!!! It was challenging to find the right answers to the grand kids questions.

Perhaps it's tamed a bit in the last 15 years..we went a few years ago and had a great time..nothing that made me any more queasy than normal. laugh

I think that public displays of affection are fine, if they're kept to a tasteful level.
A hug, a kiss, holding hands... all get thumbs up from me. Taking *ahem* advantage of the dark rides that really aren't so dark, not as much.

We are quite PDA people, not in a yukky hands going places or tasting each others last meal way though. We frequently kiss, cuddle, hold hands, tell each other we love them etc. Our kisses don't involve tongue, I don't like to make others feel uncomfortable as it would make me feel uncomfortable in turn (if that makes sense). I don't really mind PDAs either, as long as its not too graphic, not cause I object to seeing it, it's more cause they are children around and i don't think it's very nice for them

I think PDA is fine PDP (public displays of pornography) is not. We like to hold hands little kisses but I do not do porno kisses in public. Keep that behind closed doors. As a general rule of thumb If you wont do it in front of great grandma don't do it in public.

Just be aware also, those dark rides, they have "eye" that see in the dark! I have one camera that can pick out all the little hidden cameras in dark places and there are a lot!.

Those poor security employees who have to watch the video footage probably have seen a little too much from some raunchier guests, then! Wink

Spotted during our last visit near the German pavilion. They should just get a room... a tiny room.

One must remember the audience. If you are at WDW, you are probably surrounded by youngsters. Keep it clean. Some parents probably don't want to be explaining some things just yet.

That being said, DH is OPPOSED to it. He would hold my hand, but it hurts, my hands are too small and his too big. So we are happy to walk side by side. biggrin Taking turns pushing the stroller.

I'm a really private person, so I think holding hands on the rides is more than enough of a PDA for me! (Unless it's very scary, then I may perhaps cling to an arm!).

I think at Disney you have to be aware there are kids about, plus who wants to get themselves all frisky at a theme park?!

OK, mimi, to eliminate any confusion.... Near the German pavilion is a train garden that is made up of several miniature trains and buildings, farms, etc. In the midst of the miniature town, there is a miniature gazebo with the miniature PDA couple. They are about 2 inches tall and a constantly making out.

Of course he's wearing pants. It's WDW after all.

And pants are NOT optional at WDW. . . Except for Donald Duck. biggrin

BTW - love the picture, BBill!

Absolutely! DH and I are PDA people in the sense we hold hands and give each other quick pecks, but some people are out of hand. Even besides the fact that it is a place centered around being family friendly, I as a grown adult don't need to see that! eek

Public displays of affection don't bother me providing they're kept at a level suitable for public viewing. Hand-holding, hugs, walking or sitting arm-in-arm, kissing, not a problem. Tonsil inspections and body part fondling, problem. But in my experience, when people go about in public draped all over each other, with their tongues down each other's throats and their hands all over each other's naughty bits, that's not a public display of affection. It's a public display of ownership and indicative of a relationship that is not at all healthy.

Agreed. We find nothing wrong with being sweet and holding hands, little hugs or tiny kisses...but that's about all the PDA you're going to see from us.

We'll hold hands if there's noone else around or if we're in a darker ride, but that's it laugh

I think it's pretty uplifting to see happy couples holding hands at all ages than seeing them yelling at each other and having a not-so-magical time. But like the others, keep it clean and keep your tongues to yourselves unless you're in your own room, dangit!

I laughed at the thought of the security people having eyes everywhere and all the things they have probably seen because people have no idea (or just don't care). Crossing that job off my dream Disney job list!!! eek

We are hand holding, odd kiss, quick embrace and tell each other we love them, BUT not OTT. when I see people who are a little more frisky than appropriate I think it is a very expensive make out session they are having when you take into account the cost of the ticket (was going to say entry there but figured that was soo the wrong word for this post!) etc
