Reservations for Quick Service?

Am I late on this one or am I actually bringing you guys some news? Disney is testing a reservation type service for QS!

"Under the new reservation system, Disney World cast members seat groups
at tables, much like they would do at a traditional table service
restaurant...
This will inconvenience families with babies and young children, who will be
required to stand in long lines instead of waiting at their table.
Before this new system was implemented, one family member was free to
feed a baby, park diaper bags and cumbersome packages, and allow young
children and the elderly to rest at a table while another member of the
party ordered food. It would appear that disabled guests will also be
prevented from waiting at a table, although few lines accommodate
disabled guests at the pick-up station."

Thanks UL!

I'd heard that there weren't exactly "reservations," but that there were cast members waiting to seat you once you had your food. I wonder what they'll come out with at the end of this experiment...

Yes, I guess I picked a bad choice in words laugh
I am guessing this is because so many tables are used up by people just hanging out at a table at a QS restaurant with little or no food? Personally I hate this idea sad - I like being able to have the kids and grandma sit and relax while CJ and I would get everyone's food.

I'm not sure how it's implemented, but I have some misgivings as well.

Sounds like your entire party HAS to stand in the food line and then after you get your food you're seated.

Now, if they want to seat your party FIRST and then allow one or two people to go order/get the food, then that would be a bit more reasonable

I guess you could have your family wait outside and then all sit down once you have the food. I understand they'd like to use the table areas for people who are eating, but it's kind of a bad that when you're hot and tired and ready to eat you have to wait in a line just to sit at a table.

I can see what they're trying to do, but I fear all it will do is cause people to loiter longer after they're done eating.

My thoughts exactly.

That sounds like a great idea to me. I wonder how the experiment is going...
