resort waiting lists

So we leave for our anniversary trip in 125 days and I'm super excited. Although I'm also kind of bummed because we are still on the waiting list for the boardwalk. I was really looking forward to staying there. Has anyone else been on the waiting list and ended up getting what they wanted? Hubby's only giving it till the end of July before he takes us off the waiting list

I hope you get off the wait list and onto the guest list. I have no idea how that works, having never done it.

Where will you stay if you can't get into the Boardwalk? Another Disney resort, I assume? Come stay at Saratoga Springs and be our neighbors for a week.

I was on the waiting list for a 2 bedroom for 6 nights immediately followed by a studio for 2 nights. We were booked at Beach Club for the 2 bedroom and Animal Kingdom for the Studio. An hour after I booked I called back and was told that we were confirmed at Boardwalk for the 2 bedroom. It was about 2 Months before the studio waitlist went through.

So, I had done my original booking at 7 Months and was pretty much immediately confirmed for the 2 bedroom. So around 5 Months before the trip is when our studio waitlist went through. And we are going the first weekend of Food & Wine.

I have been on the wait list several times and was fortunate to get my request confirmed every time except one. yay yay There's no reason to cancel your waitlist early - hold on to it until 30 days out. mickey mickey mickey

What's the penalty to staying on the waitlist?? I say let it ride!! Good things come to those who wait!! Of course, I don't own DVC, so I'm not sure what the penalty will be so maybe disregard everything I'm saying!

There's no penalty to stay on the wait list. The only limitation is that you can only have 2 active wait lists at the same time. mickey

Will said they said we would lose are ADR's when they switched us over to the boardwalk since the ADR's were made under our Animal Kingdom reservation...I don't know...I need to call and verify that

We are DVC members so we booked our home resort which is Animal Kingdom 11 months out...but as DVC members you can switch to another resort 6 months out if you want and that was when we got put on the wait list for boardwalk

Not disputing this, since as previously said I don't own DVC, but I've changed my resort booked through Disney and haven't lost any ADRs. The only difference is the new resort name popped up in My Disney Experience. Maybe it's different DVC vs. non-DVC, but since you can make ADRs without even having a resort reservation that seems odd that you'd lose them?

What? Really? That doesn't sound quite right to me.

I haven't done the waiting list thing before though. LoL... I'm too intense about having to know what the plan is to give that one a try.

I have also noticed that not all of my ADRs show up in My Disney Experience. Even when I make them on the phone direct with guest services. But the two I made online recently do show up. confused

So they might not be gone, unless you call and they don't show them listed.

It is so annoying that I cannot link all my resort ressies and ADRs even with the confirmation numbers. The site will say that is already registered, but it does not show.

Called member svcs and even Disney tech folks, and they could not fix that either. sad

You shouldn't lose your ADRs. I have made mine before we booked our vacation.

You shouldn't lose your ADR's. If you can't get your ADR's to show up, call and have them add your phone number to the ADR, then you should be able to link it. I have had that problem every time I call to book my ADR.

The penalty could come in if waitlisted for a resort that takes less points that what you are booked for, and your banking window falls too close to your trip. It would still, probably, end up a wash. If the waitlist goes through, you could end up with unused points in your account that can't be banked. While you would most likely still have the same amount of points in the end, it is unsettling to see points there, taunting you.

With that said, I have heard of people who transfer points back and forth (Only once per UY) to try to keep from having expired points. I can totally see how that would work!

I have had BWV wait lists come through in the past, but they were generally only for 1-2 days. How many days are you wait listed for? Which view? STD, Boardwalk view, or pool/garden view? The number of days will greatly impact your chances of having the wait list come thru, as will the room view. Perhaps consider split stay, and enter a waitlist @ BWV for half of your stay, in a pool/garden view, as there are more rooms in this category. Good luck!

We would be staying there for 7 days...and I think we said whatever view came available first

I've waitlisted BCV and BW View rooms 4 times and all four times they came through. Waitlists come through at 31 days often. People cancel their reservations before the 30 day mark so they don't go into holding status. I think you have a good shot.
