That would be so awesome, Pixie! We could have a Team Grownups! I plan to do this one again as well. I don't know that I'll be doing another half between this one and next year's Wine and Dine - at first I thought I would, but now I'd like to take some time away from training to work on other aspects of fitness besides running - but we'll see. I have a feeling that this will become an annual tradition for me, and another friend - who's from your neck of the woods, actually - is thinking of coming down next year for the W&D. She's about to do her first marathon, actually. She swears it will be her one and only.

I will be running a number of races next year, thats where the kicker really lies on if I can do this. Due to breaking my leg I had to push back my 2012 goal of a half ironman. There is no way I will be ready by june to do the race since I'm not even getting off crutches now for atleast another month and back to running till around thanksgiving. That is also dependent on that I dont need surgery which we find out in a month, if I have surgery we're talking January before I'm running again :/. Next year I intend to do a triathlon, metric century and several distance runs. I will then late october- begining of the year take a steep down season to prevent injury during the half ironman training. I will run no more than 15 miles a week and do mainly swimming and cycling to keep my aerobic threshhold up. Come january I'll start building towards the half ironman. The big issue comes with how and where to fit races since there are a number already planned for next year. Epcot food and wine run maybe my last real long run for a few months if I can fit it in. Or I may do the disney princess in the spring (this is more likely) as a prep towards the half ironman and to tweak the run leg of my event.

I'm starting to consider the Feb 2012 race. Does disney offer discount packages for runners?

I don't know if they're discounts per se, but there are special "host resorts" that provide transportation to the event. The Hilton Bonnet Creek usually has some kind of package deal too, which includes some swag and a pasta dinner. Frankly, we found the base room rates to be a better deal.

February is a pretty down time of year - although I'm sure there's a nice pop in business owing to the Princess - so there might be specials. Check out the page about the event...that's where the info will be available first. Here's some info on "resort packages" that I found there.
