September Travel

So my friend, who is a TA, AP holder, DVC, very experienced WDW, DCL, DL, ABD, etc traveler posted this today on Facebook....

"Ummm...no Disney you can't move my Sept 26th booking. First time I have ever seen Disney oversell their rooms...crazy!"

She went on to reply to a comment with

"This fall is super busy! We booked boardwalk for food and wine. I would let them move us except we are there with family and I am not disappointing my kids who want to stay at same hotel as their grandparents."

I am getting a little anxious about our 2 September trips now...

Anyone else heard anything about September being crazy this year, I thought it was generally a "slower" time....

It's been very, very slow the last 2 years we have traveled in September. Of course, we were there starting with Labour Day weekend and before F&W. Maybe some resorts are doing some minor updates to their rooms? The Boardwalk was doing that last year in September.

I really hope so. I was looking forward to a couple "quiet" trips... She said she didn't even want to know the offer they made her to move. She flat out told them no. LOL

I think September is getting busy because Labor Day isn't until the 7th this year, and F&W Festival is earlier than ever. I think that the two weeks in between (about the 9th - 23rd) will be quieter, however more and more people are taking those September trips hoping for lower rates and crowds.

For the entire time of Food & Wine Festival DVC studios have been completely booked, in all the resorts, and it's been that way for months. There's the odd date here or there you can get a single night during the week but it's nearly impossible these days to get a DVC room during Food & Wine without booking at 11 months out.

I booked DVC in May, we got SSR but I am fine with what we could get.

I am hoping it's not as bad as it seems. I want the girls to enjoy the short bit of time we get at F&W! 9-23 is mine and Joe's window, so that is a plus! silly

We usually go in September and it seems like it may be getting busier. I think more people are catching on to the lower room rates and free dining. That being said it was still pretty slow. We never waited more than 30 minutes for any ride except Toy Story.

We normally go for 2weeks in Sept. for a few reasons. DW's birthday and our wedding anniversary, where better to celebrate theses occasions. Also we tend to take time off work outside of the kids summer holidays, both DW and me work with people who have kids so we avoid July/August for time off. September suits us just fine.
