Sharing a Computer

This may be just kvetching.... but.

I knew that I wasn't going to take a lot of time off when we're in Florida in June, I'll get everything I can done early, but the daily things I need to take care of I'll do in the mornings before we leave. No biggie, I'm getting the hang of the working vacation thing.

However, I just learned that my husband was not able to arrange his class schedule so that he'll be on a break from school. That means that he'll have online classwork that needs to get done while we're in Disney as well. Oh my god... panic. Well, maybe not complete panic, more like annoyance. You see, my husband doesn't have a laptop. Which means we'll be battling for the computer to get our work done and it's going to take twice as long to get everything done.

GggGgggrrrr.... I am *so* annoyed by this. If there is one thing that I'm not great at sharing, it's my computer. I told my son that he was going to need to bring his laptop along so that we would have more than one to use. I don't think he was too thrilled about that, but there you have it.

Having to share my laptop is honestly one of my biggest family pet peeves. Is it just me?

You are definitely not alone! I have a netbook and a tablet (gifts from our techie son), and DH is not allowed to touch either of them! Ever! He has his own laptop - (an older model from our son again), and even if he fried it, he's not getting his hands on mine!

Could you afford to either replace DH's computer with a laptop or get a cheap basic laptop for travel purposes? I'm actually thinking of getting a second laptop for traveling because my current one is a 17" which makes it a pain to travel with.

No you are not alone, I have to really bite my tongue to let anyone use my laptop or iPad. I hate it.

Not before this trip, no. However we'll have my son's laptop with us, and we got a keyboard for the iPad. Hopefully that will relieve the tension. LOL!

Oh my gosh, you are so not alone. I think one of the last big fights I had with DF was about him messing with my laptop without my permission. I don't care that you're trying to be helpful. I don't care that you do this for a living. I don't care if it's a really cool app. Keep your paws off my 'puter. gaah

We only have a desktop, we didn't get iPhones until last July. DH does have an iPod Nano, but it was a gift for his 5 year Anniversary with his company. We are totally not up to date.

I am an IT Pro by trade. DW doesn't understand why I don't want to let anyone else use my laptop. Whenever I back off and let them use it some, I almost always regret it.
