Snacks - what are your must try's!

Good evening all,

Today's planning/ reviewing and salivating over has been snacks....... I have started a bit of a list of things I might want to try but I wanted to know what are your faves and what is, in your opinion a bit meh?

I have a sweet tooth more often than not but all suggestions gratefully received, and please feel free to tell me that things look far better in the photos Wink

So far:
Dole whip
Candy corn soft serve at mnsshp
Funnel cake
Create a goofy snack
Salted caramel from Epcot
Ice cream sandwich
Stuffed Pretzel from ak
At least 1 cupcake - any suggestions as to the best ones?
Cinnamon roll

Not to be a naysayer, but what makes a WDW funnel cake different than the ones at a county fair?

I am looking forward to a giant pretzel myself and there's always room for red velvet cake

I'm from the uk and we don't have funnel cake over here (not that I've ever seen), it seems to be something that people rave about so I thought I would like to give it a go.

That sounds interesting - where can if be found? Is it magic because of the speed in which it vanishes?

I'am sorry..it's a secret..Only joking...Bakery at PORS is where I first lost my heart to one..I ended up boxing at least 8 of them and taking them home in my suitcase..I believe that Roaring Forks also do them..I'll be the judge of them when I arrive at WL..

There's too many to list!

Dole Whip
Premium Bar
Mickey Ice Cream sandwich
Soft pretzels in Germany
Caramel corn in Karamel Kuche in the Germany pavillion at Epcot
Shrimp flavored chips in Japan

Ones I have yet to try but really want to eat so badly:

Frozen bananas
Cupcakes (So many choices but the butterfinger one is one I want to try the most and it's the fan favorite.)
Magic Cookie Bar
Zebra domes

Aside from the snacks others have mentioned, I would submit the beignets at POFQ.

that carrot cake thing looks delish! I'm hoping it doesn't have any raisins in it. I too am looking forward to a good hot dog at Casey's Corner.

Also, does anyone know where to get corn on the cob?

Sorry to say, but the carrot cake cookie does have raisins in it. I know corn on the cob is served at Cape May Cafe during the dinner buffet. I'm sure it's also served elsewhere, but that's the only place I know for sure.

1. CRONUT~Epcot~I'd pick the Cronut over the funnel cake, or better yet try both laugh The Cronut is SO good and it tastes like a softer version of a funnel cake. You can get it a la mode too, but in our experience it ruined the Cronut a bit. So we get it on the side now.

2. Red Velvet Cupcake from Starring Rolls~My absolute favorite cupcake in WDW.

3. Cupcakes from the Cheshire Cafe in MK~I've added a picture of our 2 cupcakes. They were Strawberry with Strawberry icing and Marble cupcake with Buttercream icing. They are quite tasty but extremely sweet with TONS of icing. I'd say it's 50% 50% icing and cupcake if not even more icing than cupcake.

4. Chocolate Tarte~Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie~This tart is wonderful, IMO! It's a rich chocolate mousse mixed with caramel cream. It's served in a crunchy Tarte shell that is similar to a sugar cookie, but not as sweet. It's VERY good and one of our favorites!

Maybe this thread might be better suited to be in the Dining forum, or if possible, merge with a few of the existing threads on similar topic, such as this one:

Honestly, it's easier to eliminate some: funnel cakes (yeup, like the county fair), ice cream bars (Dove and Cadbury has them all beat), MCB (sorry sir) but my mom makes one just like it, and popcorn (movie theatre is really good). Finally, and I do know this is blasphemy, but I am not a big frosting person, so the cupcakes can get a bit much.

Must does: Dole Whips (I could do variations daily....oh wait, I have four out six days to do that!) mango pie (haven't mastered that recipe), key lime pie/variations (you could put lime juice on cat food and I would at least look), the strawberry tarts at the French pastry shop/chocolate dipped strawberries (going to Wishes Buffet so there may be a shortage after the 22nd). DH says the warm sugared almonds at Canada or the moosetracks/elephant ears. muchlove muchlove muchlove muchlove

I'm on a snack trying mission this next trip, there are so many I want to try - I can't believe how many of these I haven't tried yet! Those cupcakes look amazing and I've been wanting to try the funnel cake for years but just never get around to it! So many snacks, so little time!

I agree with OldTink about the icing. The older I get the less I like super sweet items and that goes for the cupcakes and the carrot cake cookie. I've had both and in the future I am more likely to go after the more savory snacks.

I can't wait to have one!!!!!! They are on my list for our last day. Gonna save it for last because I am afraid I will go every single day for them if I go earlier in the trip laugh

I'm actually going to leave it right where it is. I think it fits in fine, and I know that we have a similar thread over on the other board.

I'm all about the Dole Whip, the Mickey Ice Cream Bar, the Grey Goose Slushy, and the salted caramel from Karamel Kuche. The cupcake that gets me every time is the cappuccino cupcake at Pizza Planet in HS! Its fantastic!

Good to hear because that and the Singapore sling were on the list wink

I'm on the dining plan with only 15 snack credits - to quote a non-disney film 'we're going to need a bigger boat!'
