So..tell me the truth..

I have always been SUCH a nay-sayer about Spring Break in WDW. However, I have never..um..actually BEEN during that time. I've just heard about how awfully crowded it can be. How ugly is it? Since plans for this year were canceled we are going in 2012. I want to go sooner rather than later..but I can't decide risk going at Spring Break with the crowds OR wait until we get out of school which is the last week in May?
What would you do?

Id say May.... but understand how bad you wanna go. But the thing is... is going earlier worth the risk of a good time? Especially if you can only go once a year or once every two years.

That's my concern. Especially because we'll have a 2 (almost 3) year old (ack..I can't believe he'll be that old). I don't want to risk being miserable with him. If it was just Dave & I it would be okay..plus the higher prices for the resorts.
Ok..I think I've just talked myself out of it again.

Like you, we've never actually been during Spring Break because we've always heard how busy it can get, and I've never really wanted to risk it, so we always went after, in early May-ish. I think if we had a small one, and especially for the first experience, I'd try and avoid highest-peak times if at all possible.

was Spring Break these past couple of weeks? when I was there? March 24-30? it wasnt so bad, the longest line was 1hr at Magic Kingdom. so.. I think you'd have a better chance before May.. because once you hit May, arent more people out of school?

My aunty/uncles/cousins have been a couple of times over easter; I guess the fact that they've been more than once during that time suggests that it wasn't that bad. And they have been in September and Summer too, so it's not like they don't have other times to compare it to.

Saying that though, if it were me I'd just hold on a few extra weeks to go at a quieter time. You have it to look forward to for longer too!

My visits during Spring Break have been uniformly bad, but they are only ever daytrips. The other factor is, of course, heat - which you'll probably have either time. That leaves price as a factor, and possibly (most likely) crowds. I would choose later...or...what about August? Since heat's heat? Crowds are somewhat down. When does school start for you?

Spring Break usually means the two weeks before and after Easter..that is when most schools have Spring Break.

We start very early..I am back to work but the second week in August. I know August can get super crowded..plus the humidity!

I went in 2008 from May 27 - June 4. The crowds were mild and the weather was perfect. Lots of sun and heat and only one or two small rainstorms.

I would highly recommend May.

I did go May 10-21 in 2010 and although the crowds were a bit busier, there were still many rides with wait times 15 mins or less.

I just came back from wdw last week. The lines were about an hour each ride, Universal Studious was way crazy becasue of the new harry potter world the ride was 2 hour wait. I never waited in lines though because of single rider and fast pass.

We went for college spring break once, late March if I remember right. Crowds weren't bad at all.

I think the biggest problem with spring break crowds are their unpredictability. It might not be too bad or it might be unbearable. I've never actually had the nerve to find out for myself though.

Did you find it pretty slow as well? I also enjoyed the StarsWars theme at HS because it's fun to watch the Jedi Training School kids fight Darth Vader.

Yeah we enjoyed it then..we had been going in off months before then so it was our first real experience with crowds..so that was tough..but I don't remember being miserable.

Friends of ours went in March near St. Patrick's Day with their four year old and said it was insanely crowded.

Yep - because that's the thing - daytrippers. Tons of people not just staying at WDW, but coming to FL, and going to the parks for the day. That's what makes it so unpredictable. The crowds around the beaches have seemed higher this year. Don't know if that's an indicator about the parks.

I've only been during Spring Break once and I swore I would never do it again. I'm too used to going in the fall!

But, we planned it out and were able to ride everything we wanted. Just takes planning of course!
