Spolied by DVC

I discovered while in Disneyland that my children have been completely spoiled by DVC. In fact, I'm not so sure they have much of a concept of what the "average" hotel room really is. On our last night we moved from our DVC 2 bedroom Villa to a 1 Bedroom Suite at the Disneyland Hotel. It was a lovely room, large and comfortable with nice Disney touches on a simple hotel theme but the kids were unimpressed.

I think that growing up "DVC" they've become future DVC Owners in their own right. For my kids, it's the full kitchen, jacuzzi tub and in-room washer/dryer that are right there that make it more special. Oh, and when Katie spilled popcorn in the suite she had to clean it up by hand instead of just grabbing the vacuum in a DVC room.

Do you find that after traveling with DVC you find other rooms lacking, even at Disney?

What are the touches that make DVC truly your home away from home?

DVC has spoiled me to death! I remember going to Disney without being a DVC member, and while the rooms were nice... they felt like Motel rooms in the end. The rooms for DVC are just amazing. Were taking my wifes Mom with us this November, and she doesnt understand why we love coming to Disney every year now. Im hoping after this trip and spending time in our room... it will change her mind... heh

But yeah... I totally agree with what your saying... DVC is spoiling me.

I have only done DVC once with my ex girlfriends family. We stopped at Wilderness Lodge with all the bells and whistles. It was beautiful. Ever since it's been regular rooms all the way.

Now I know how the other half live I would like to do it again and again, but sadly it's not something I can afford.

In regards to service from Disney, I didn't see a great deal of difference between being a regular guest and a DVC guest which I think makes it easier to accept.

I am just happy that I got to experience it at least once.

I would agree about the service, they are the same. In fact, you could say that it's better for a regular room, because they get housekeeping daily.

I hate hate hate that DVC rooms don't get daily housekeeping. I think that's why I like staying on the concierge level, because with those DVC rooms you do get housekeeping. I will happily pay more points for a good maid.

I guess I flip flop on the whole housekeeping bit. There are days I wish I had it, and others where im glad they are not coming into the room because of how messy we made the room! lol

The biggest is towels, but we can always ask for more.

i am with mase on this, we just ask for towels to be left outside, we don't want them in the room just a personal space thing.

I keep my space in a hotel room super clean, much more so than I keep my home. My children however trash their space. I think that's another joy of DVC to me. They get their own room in the Villa and I don't even have to see it and what a mess that they've made.

We really used our DVC room this past trip, I cooked, did dishes, laundry twice, and we accumulated a lot of trash. By day 3 I felt that we really needed maid service. Trash and towels on day 4 was nice, but there wasn't much for her to do, because I had done it on day 3.

I wonder, can you ask them to move your housekeeping day around? I know that you can add days for a cost, but I wonder if you can ask them to come on day 3 instead of 4.

I honestly don't see why not? I would say ask when you check in to have house keeping come at the 4 day mark instead of the 3. You can be our guinea pig! lol

I had used my dvc point for the upcoming Sept trip so when we looked at regular rooms for a short stay Star Wars weekend I nearly had sticker shock. Made me appreciate my DVC investment even more. Just wish I could afford more points!
