Spook's Disneyland Adventure *trip report COMPLETE*

Well, we're all booked! First ever trip to Disneyland yay I'm so excited! We will be there December 30 to January 8. And yes, we are going to Disneyland for New Years Eve! Mr Toad and the Matterhorn are my absolute must do's. I also want to have brunch at Goofy's Kitchen. Also hoping to book the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour.

This is actually a business trip laugh The DQ Expo is at the Anaheim Convention Centre. Erik and I will be joined by my Brother and Sister In Law who run the mall location here. They are also doing a Hollywood Tour that was offered through DQ but Erik and I opted to spend our money and time at Disney! Gotta make the most of it awesome We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel.

I have to admit though, I'm really excited for the Expo! We've never been to one and it sounds interesting. I think I heard over 160 vendors will be there. There is an Iron Tip contest, showcasing the talents of cake decorators. A Top Curl competition showcasing crew members making that trademark curl on the DQ products. I wanted to enter this one ( I make a mighty fine curl biggrin ) but apparently managers aren't eligible gaah Which was a shame because if I made it to the Expo competition, it would've been a free trip! Oh well. I'll just live out my days as the uncrowned champion of the DQ curl laugh I am most looking forward to the 2018 Taste of DQ. They will be showcasing all the new eats and treats coming out! I can't wait to sample! Breakfast is included for two days and there is a day of seminars. The final night there is a dinner gala where Chicago will be performing.

Haven't had a chance to do too much planning but here's what I got so far

Dec 30 Arrival day. No parks today just checking out the resorts and maybe Downtown Disney.

Dec 31 Disneyland Park day! Not sure if gets as crazy as Disney World on New Years Eve so we plan on being there for park open and staying until the end. Since we've never been and it's only our first day, I don't mind waiting in line for rides. I mean, what else would we do all day?! Today my goals are Mr Toad and Matterhorn.

Jan 1 Hopefully brunch at Goofy's Kitchen. Then just having a relaxing day. Maybe check out the pool or Downtown Disney.

Jan 2 Park day #2. Probably California Adventure.

Jan 3 My brother and SIL have their hollywood tour this day so we might try for the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour. Otherwise, it'll just be a park day.

Jan 4 Expo festivities start at 4 today with the opening reception. We might go to a park in the morning. The Iron Tip competition is tonight too. As a cake decorator at our store, I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Jan 5 After breakfast we have a couple Franchisee Enrichment sessions. We are doing the " Be an employer of choice" and " The satisfaction guarantee". The first one is to learn how to hire better and have a lower turnover rate. The second is about customer service. The Top Curl competition is also today. At night there is a CMN ( Children's Miracle Network) Dinner and Silent auction.

Jan 6 Breakfast again then the taste of DQ! Tonight is the gala with dinner and Chicago.

Jan 7 Last day so we are of course hitting a park or two.

Jan 8 Flying home and trying to get back on eastern time laugh

Sounds very exciting! I would love to spend a holiday at Disney - you'll have to take lots of pictures. And hopefully you get a few free blizzards while you're at the DQ expo! laugh

I can highly recommend Walk in Walt's footsteps, it really bought life to the park. Both parks are great, I'm sure you will have a fab time.

Haha, I can't believe that 5 days after I wrote this comment we were in Disneyland! Can't wait for you to experience it - so familiar, but different.

For me I was amazed at the instant connection made with both parks, it's everything I hoped for and more. Out of my 3 world parks I think this tops them all (need to do all 6 to be sure, but the others have big shoes to fill)

The characters are free roaming and chip and dale are just so fun. Free characters were stopped at DLP due to them getting mauled.

That and the whole atmosphere felt like I was experiencing everything Walt imagined. I loved New Orleans Square and the little areas to get lost in near club 33.

California adventure amazed me, I love Art Deco so Carthay circle and The red trolley , I could just be there all day. Shame Tot is now Gotg as the theme now is a bit off for me. Then paradise pier - omg! We don't really have midway fairgrounds over here (smaller travelling fairs I grew up with) so seeing the fun wheel and the wooden coaster behind was amazing , I took so many photos!

I really found that there was space to roam in both parks and still more attractions per sqft than WDW.

I hope you love it as much as I did, can't wait to hear about your adventures.

We are just under two weeks away! We booked the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour and bought our tickets. All thats left is booking the shuttle from the airport to the Disney Hotel. Any recommendations?

We are taking the shuttle from here to our hotel in Toronto on the 29th. The downside is we catch the shuttle at 7am so we'll be at our hotel before noon. No idea what we're going to do all day. I guess if our room isn't ready we'll be hanging out in the lobby laugh . My brother and sister in law are taking the shuttle as well but they catch it later so won't be at the hotel until 4ish. Then it's Jack Astor's for dinner!

Assuming your flying into LAX, there is a Disney resort shuttle. I don't know a lot about it. I think Alicemouse may have used it. I flew into SNA and took Super Shuttle to my hotel both times I went to Disneyland.

That's the Disneyland Resort Express aka the Gray Line, leaving from either LAX or SNA

I've used it several times and have never had a problem. Disneyland is about 15 minutes by bus from SNA, and about 60 minutes from LAX depending on traffic. It's not the magical express, but its not bad either.

It's almost here yay Now that the Christmas rush is over, we need to get packing! We took down all of our Christmas decorations today which felt weird. But we work the next two days then leave friday morning. Really didn't want to deal with it when we got back so today was the only day. House looks so empty now.

I downloaded the DQ expo app. They have all the expo vendors, speakers, events listed. I'm so excited! On the final night there is a dinner gala with a performance by Chicago. However, I didn't know until now that after that, we have a viewing of World of Colour! Now I don't have to worry about making time earlier in the week for it awesome They also listed the new products for the Taste of DQ. I'm going to make you wait for that though because I can Tongue Some sound good, some are boring and a couple sound gross laugh

We are booked on Super Shuttle. We booked a non stop ride so it's just the four of us on the shuttle which is nice.

The trip has begun! Caught the shuttle at 7am this morning. Had 3 stops to pick up other people. Due to an overbooking, we had to get off at the third stop. I think it was because we were the only ones going to a hotel, everyone else was going right to the airport. They said they were sending a limo which was exciting. Turns out the "limo" was just a regular SUV laugh oh well, we got an express to our hotel which was nice. Got to the hotel around 11am and thankfully our room was ready! We ordered some pizza and took a nap. My brother and sister in law caught their shuttle at noon and arrived shortly after 5pm. We walked over to Jack Astors for dinner. Now we're relaxing in our room preparing to catch the 6am shuttle tomorrow.

Thanks everyone! We have arrived! Flight departed later than scheduled but not too bad. Man that's a long flight! Almost 6 hours! Once we landed everything went very smoothly. Short walk to baggage claim, our luggage was out fast and super shuttle was right outside the door! We were about an hour and a bit total from getting off the plane to arriving at the resort biggrin

I love the rooms! The magical headboards with the music and fireworks makes me so happy! We got some groceries at Walmart then just relaxed. Have to get up early for New Year's Eve awesome
