Suggestions needed for arrival day

Hi all,
I'm looking for some suggestions for our arrival day. As it stands we'll be leaving on the red-eye out of LAX on 9/10 and arriving into Orlando around 6:00 am on 9/11. I'm estimating arriving at WDW roughly around 7-8 am. The ONLY thing we have planned for this day is MNSSHP at 7 pm that evening (with an afternoon nap added in eek .) We will have park hoppers along with water park tickets and we'll be staying at POR. I am torn between making this initial day a low-key, relaxing day with maybe some time at the pool, or water park, or do we immerse ourselves in Disney magic right away? I am also considering booking a character breakfast for DH and myself. This is our belated honeymoon so romance is on the agenda as well. muchlove

where are you staying? i would make some adr's for a character breakfast, around 10 either crystal palace in mk or tusker house in ak, whichever you are closer to and then hit a couple rides and back to the room to rest up for the mnsshp! what ever you do have a great time

I think a quiet relaxing day will be in order, so as to recharge the batteries after the flight in and getting to the parks etc. That way you will have some energy to hit MNSSHP in the evening and then the romance will kick in. wink

We're staying at Port Orleans Riverside. I am leaning towards a relaxing day but I know how excited I am going to be to start the magic. This is my 1st visit to WDW, my DH's last visit was about 10 yrs. ago.

A lot depends on how you feel when you see the signs along the highway....

Personally, I always say we're going to relax, get settled, hit the pool..... But then I see the hiway exit signs, then that welcome sign over the road, and then the clerk at the desk says "welcome home".... then it's pedal to the metal, throttles to the firewall, I've got a ticket in my pocket and it's burning a hole, I've got to go to the park has EMH and make 'em kick me out at closing time... you get the picture.

Your experience may be different, but I doubt it.

I vote for relaxing!! Maybe a character breakfast when you first get there. Then DTD for some people watching etc... check into your room, nap time, get your stuff situated and unpacked (I am not one for living out of a suitcase!) and rest up for MNSSHP!! =)

Make it a low key day. Schedule a nice lunch somewhere outside the parks, maybe. You can get a bit of a Disney taste, then have a nice nap. That way you'll be refreshed for te Party!

Red eye flights are killer, so don't try to do too much or you'll be drained the first full day or two. Don't start out tired because it never goes away! That has been mt experience flying red eye west to east. Puzzled

This might be a great day to stroll around DTD and get a feel for what souvenirs you might like to purchase! Then you can compare what you find elsewhere. You could also take in Earl of Sandwich.

Another option would be a day at the water parks. I love them! They can be fun or relaxing, or a combination of both. One of my top 5 happy places in the WORLD is floating around the lazy rivers. OMG. They're amazing!

Good luck! Let us know what you decide!
