It's really kind of weird to have a "Titanic Experience," right? I mean I never really wanted to sink in the North Atlantic.

We saw it six or seven years ago when it first surfaced (pun intended) in Orlando.

It is actually pretty neat. When you go in, you are assigned the name of a passenger or crew member and you don't find out your fate until you are ready to leave.

I think this thing has moved around a few times, so whatever I tell you is more than likely the same now.

When we saw it, it was part museum, part "experience". They had a lot of North Star Line items on exhibit, but only a few actual Titanic items. That was ok though, because I'm a history nut, and in particular have studied the Titanic a bit.

They had a replica of the grand staircase that you hear so much about, and a lot more.

The BEST part of the exhibit was at the end. You walk through a door and it is like you are on deck of the Titanic right after the ice berg has been struck. It is dark with night lighting, and you can see the moon reflecting on the walls as if it is reflecting off the ocean. You are looking off into the sea and there is a huge block of real ice that you can reach out and touch. It is very much like you are standing on deck with a cold wind blowing in your face and knowing this ship you are on will be sinking. Even knowing you in Orlando and it is 90 degrees outside leaves with you an incredibly eerie feeling.

And as you leave you can take the ticket with your name on it and look up what happened to your namesake on that fateful night.

If this is the same one we saw, I heartily recommend it!

See the link in the first posting. It's on International Drive. Not bad for twenty bucks.

Thanks. This is right up my alley.

They have one of these in Vegas too, at the Luxor, but the price is even steeper. I think it's like $27 or something ridiculous. When I saw it (back when it was at the Tropicana hotel), it was only about $17. It is pretty cool, though.

Probably the biggest problem with this place is that it is relatively unkown.

Which of course, is a benefit if you are going there because it is relatively uncrowded.

So are there lots of these things, or just one exhibit that just keeps moving?

Think both are true actually. There is one exhibit that travels (it was in Nashville a year or so ago when I lived there), then I think there are others.

I think I may need to see if I can fit this into our packed schedule.
