We always buy travel insurance for vacations. It's normally valid for a year so we usually get two trips to the US per year with it. Last year I managed ended up with 3 trips so it does cover us a lot. Never had to use it, but like any other kind of insurance, that's the best kind.

Well I finally have some new information about my earlier posts on this thread. I contacted the travel insurance company that represented the plan I purchased with my Disney package, explained my situation, and tried to find out if my flights would be covered. I was not able to get an answer out of them, all they wanted to do was send me the claim form to file. The form was 6 pages long and not at all trivial to complete. I decided to contact the airline directly before filing the claim. I wrote the airline and explained the situation, and asked if they would be willing to waive the unused fund expiration. Well, all of your pixie dust worked! I was contacted yesterday and told the airline would be refunding the full price of my tickets!!

As for my DW, she's had 2 chemo treatments so far, and all things considered is doing pretty well. Thanks again for all of your warm wishes!

And bottom line to the point of the thread, my experiences have really left me undecided on the insurance question. The only conclusion I have made is that if I do wish to insure any future trips, I'll probably work through a third party insurer, and be certain that all trip expenses are covered before purchasing the policy. Hopefully this will help some of you along the way wink
