Travel from Resort to Resort

I'm curious to know how traveling between Resorts works. We'll be staying at the Wilderness Lodge, but we have a couple of dining reservations at other Resorts -- Grand Floridian, Polynesian for example -- will we be able to take the bus like we would for the Parks??

I am such a newbie at this...the last time I was at WDW was 1980...no Epcot Center, no resorts...just the Magic Kingdom...I am daunted by it all!

I may be wrong but I think the way to go from resort to resort is to take a bus to a Park, then transfer to the correct bus/boat/monorail to the resort you're headed to.

Well.. that's what we do anyway.

Yep, I believe it's either two busses or a taxi unless you're going to/from a monorail resort, then its a bus and a train. If using the two bus method, be careful which park you choose to change at as it can save a lot of time if you pick the right one.

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that the buses only went from the resort to the parks...So, what is the taxi service like? Is it very reliable? Fairly quick?

Hi Tori! - any taxis you take would be extra $$$, so I would just plan to use the bus/train service. True, it adds extra time...but it's FREE! Smile (I love free.) And speaking of extra time - be sure to add it. DH and I were there a few years ago, and were staying at Caribbean Beach Resort, and had ADRs at Raglan Road. We were late because we didn't leave enough time for the bus waiting. The RR staff was awesome, but I just hate to be late.

I would think another option for you at WL would be to catch the boat to MK, then to take the train to GF and the Poly. That will work for all of your MK and monorail resort reservations anyway.

I have included I hope Smile a link to a great site for planning travel within WDW. You just put in where from and where to.

In the specific cases you mentioned I'd take the boat. Wilderness Lodge to GF and Poly can take a while but boat rides are fun. In fact I might take the Wilderness Lodge to contempo boat and then take the monorail. Then you get to use two modes.

To add onto Lizzy B's suggestion, I would say take the boat from WL over to Contemporary, then take the monorail over to Poly and Grand Floridian for your reservations. That way, you likely won't have to battle QUITE as crowded a boat or monorail station as you would if you took a boat to the MK first. Smile

Welcome to WDWFG mickey

Thanks for this tip! It will be extremely helpful....although I have a feeling for these couple of reservations I might be breaking down and getting a taxi... :~I am woefully terrible at time management when it comes to traveling somewhere. I always underestimate....

We'll have to see...

If you are at Wilderness Lodge, take the boat to the Contemporary and transfer on the Monorail to Poly and Grand Floridian. For non MK resorts take the boat to MK and transfer to your resort from there. We did this several times from WL, don't spend your money on a taxi unless you must. The travel time isn't bad.

Of course if you are going directly from a park, no need to worry about transfering transportatin, just on get on that resort bus.

Also, since you are staying at WL you can take the boat to MK..and then from MK take the monorail to either the Grand Floridian or the Poly..very easy..and if you catch the boat at the right time it can be much faster than the bus route!

Thanks for all the tips everyone...it all just seems a bit overwhelming at the moment...but it will all probably make more sense once we're there. We'll see how it goes. Smile
