Jess, we are friends with AJ and have seen the book. We think it's great. Very comprehensive. Have you had a chance to look it over yet?

I just sent it to her iPhone, but it needs updated before she can read it. Im currently reading it now. Havent gotten into the meat of it yet, but reading all of the stuff that I know, but keep managing to find something I didnt either realize or know. So im enjoying it. It will be a good read for me tonight and tomorrow.

Yeah... which I find amazing because in a way... you still get to keep it. I dont think anyone should go that route... but I thought it was a pretty bold statement. awesome

I found it from an article on the main page. If I was on my desktop computer... I could get it easier. But I'm on my iPad. I'll see if I can find it quick.

I recommend it highly. I'm around page 90 and thought I knew a lot. This book is teaching me otherwise. Lol

I hear good things. Are you finding the planning tools to be useful?

I havent gone to much into that. They have setup a bunch of steps to figure out which plan is best and so on. With my parents and my family... we just do the Dining Plan. Its simple. Easy. Some days its worth it. Some days it may not be. But in the end I think it save us money. The thing im liking is the detail they go in for everything. Since were at the Animal Kingdom, and they have that concierge and such... they broke it down with that. They also said in it what all it en tales and such. If you werent visiting the parks and just staying there its a heck of a deal for around $100 extra, but for those who may just eat breakfast at the hotel or want a variety for dinner... its not worth it.

So as in planning tools... Its very good. I dont think were planning on using them because we already are going to do the dining plan and such. But for those who would like to save a couple hundred bucks... buying this book is soooooooooo worth it. It even lists like top 5 restaurants that have the best food, but are the cheapest. It just has a lot of good info in it. If anything... its a great read.

One thing it did pose to me after reading it is for example. With the dining plan. Some places are two credits. For example ill use the Yachtsman Steak House and the Hoopdie Doo Review. Both 2 credits. The max someone could spend at the YS for just a meal is $46. Add drink and desert its about 12 more. So your looking at around say $60 for one person. The credits alone are close to $45-$50. So with the YS being 2 credits... thats $90-$100. Your better off saving your credit and get breakfast somewhere and pay out of pocket for YS.

Now... the HDR is a little different, at least for me. To get in depends on how close you want to sit. Farthest away is $50 or so, and closest is $60. To me... this would be worth the 2 dining credits. Why? Its a dinner and a show. I can justify it for some reason because of that. But thats just me. Everyone is different.

I am almost sure than when we used our DDP to go last June you could only get tier 2 or 3 seats using the plan. That makes it even more not worth using the plan to do. There were 6 of us all using the dinning plan. Based on us using two credits each for just a so so meal I became more convinced than ever not to do a show using the plan.
I also think that a year ago when we did the Luau we paid out of pocket to get front and center seats instead of using the plan. Maybe they have changed that though.

If thats the case, then yeah... that would make it not worth it. I told Jess last night that I thought the middle option wasnt worth doing. Either go for the $60 or the $50. Especially if you have kids. The difference between the kids middle and last is only a buck. But if I remember right... a $6-$7 difference for the high.

Mr Hub and I are both reading the book now. It is very well done. So far, I have not found anything that I did not know though lol. And, like you, we are always on the DDP so we pay very little attention to the cost of our meals. I do think if you were going for the first time the book would be a great way to get started. We however do not follow most of her suggestions on how to decide where to eat. We chose our meals first...then decide on what to do for the day based on our meals. That is one GREAT benefit of going without kids! I am not really sure what Mr Hub thinks of the book because he is on one of his shifts that has us rarely seeing each other.

Aj is a goddess of Disney food! I haven't gotten the book yet but I am so excited that it's getting good reviews. I've been a lover of the Food Blog for years. This is so exciting.
