We officially have the Disney Fever!!!!!

Its official! Disney fever has struck! We decided for our next trip we are going to go for more relaxation... so a Disney cruise it is.. Brandon told me to start planning it last night! haha!! Dont know when we will go, it all just depends. We are trying to have a baby so kinda depends on that as well. I'm so excited! I have only been on 1 cruise and it was just a quick 3 day cruise on an old ship, so I am super excited!!

So, what do I need to know about planning a Disney cruise?? Time of year? Destination? Type of room? etc...

Yeah... I dont know too much about them either... I do know the colder the better from what friends have told me. So a December/January trip would be cheaper and less crowded. Also... destination is another huge one. I know if I did one... id want to go to the Caribbean and see the pirate ship. But then.... each ship is different too. One of them has the Aquaduck!

You can order a free Disney Cruise Line planning CD. I got one a couple of weeks ago but haven't had a chance to watch it.

Cruising is actually a lot easier that the parks. Not so many decisions. Have you thought about where you'd like to go? I've never been on a cruise, but the Alaska kind of cruise makes the most sense to me. Go see something where there's really no other option than to see it by cruise.

That's terrific, Emma!

I don't think you can go wrong with any type of cabin on a Disney ship, especially the Dream and the Fantasy, which features virtual portholes in the internal cabins. I will say that in my experience (without a virtual porthole) I really missed daylight the year we opted for an internal cabin. However, some folks feel like the room is just a place to sleep, so it's a great way to save $$ that you can put to use somewhere else.

I love Brad's idea of an Alaska cruise, but I'm a big fan of the Caribbean for a first time. It's just so stunningly beautiful.

We've cruised in April, June, and October, and I really like October, but you run the risk of hurricanes. Having said that, you can get some good deals Sept/Oct because it's the height of hurricane season (on other cruiselines anyway. I don't know about Disney.)

Good luck! I look forward to hearing about it when you get it planned! Will you cruise as a family if the baby plan works out soon, or would you prefer to go as a couple and leave the family cruise until your little one can enjoy it more?

I guess it just depends on how it works out.... I defiantely wouldn't take a newborn on a cruise, but I'm not sure at what age I would take a baby... so I really have no idea. But at the same time, I dont know if I could leave a baby for a week....so if the baby plan works out soon, it may be a while before we take a trip.

Probably do a Caribbean cruise, and definatly go to Castaway Cay! =) The 7 day Fantasy trip goes there, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Costa Maya

I loved th cruises almost as much as the parks. Castaway Cay is awesome. Maybe it was the blue waters, sunny skies or the bucket o'beers we shared but it was awesome and if you do a CC make sure you snorkel and look for the hidden items. It's a lot of fun and The Beach BBQ is fantastic. We had such a great time on the cruise. I highly recommend it...the longer the better.
