Well.. we use to go up to epcot for lunch when we lived an hour and a half away but with prices being as they are it's harder now.

In a typical year we try to make it up at least once a month or every other month in summer. We don't like to go in the summer very much but thats when family from out west visits. We like to make it worth it to buy a season pass, needless to say we make our passes work for us!

Hi Sara! Glad you're here.

Once a month is still a great fix! It's amazing the pull of those season/annual passes, isn't it? laugh

Hello!

My name is Matt and I live in downtown Orlando. I just bought an annual pass when some friends came to town recently and after spending 4 days at the parks I couldn't be happier with my decision.

Now that I can come and go as I please, I hope to visit the parks fairly often. The fact that I live 20 minutes away certainly doesn't hurt.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello! I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Awesome to have you here Matt! You have the ideal lifestyle: Easy access to WDW. Do you go there just for dining ever?

Not yet, but I certainly plan to - particularly around Epcot. Very tempted to get the dining discount card, but might wait until January for that.

Hi Matt! welcome

I'm a huge fan of the disney dining card (or whatever they're calling it these days--wonderland something?). It's a great discount.

Looking forward to hearing more about your forays to the parks. When you get to go more often, you probably find really cool stuff that everyone else just rushes by on the way to the major rides.

Msim: Welcome to the board. I HIGHLY recommend the dining card. If you're within 20 minutes of the parks you can hit all kinds of fun restaurants and get your money back in no time.

Sara: How did I miss that pic? What is the backdrop there?

DSoup-

That was the old character meet and greet at EPCOT.. I liked it better, it was harder for people to find and access to one on one time with the characters was great!

Hi Everyone! My name's Lori, but I go by WordVixen pretty much everywhere online. I'm gearing up for my 6th trip to Walt Disney World, which is saying something since I don't fly, live 16 hours away by car, and only visited WDW for the first time about 5 years ago. mickey

In fact, it was my now husband who took me to WDW for the first time approx. 6 months after we met. He actually invited me to WDW the day after he asked me out for our first date. laugh He owned two cars, and both broke down on our way down (the first an hour after leaving home, the second 3 hours away from Disney- he actually paid the tow truck driver to get us to Orlando, and took a taxi the rest of the way!). We're both certain that the first trip is the reason we're now married, though for different reasons.

No kids yet- hoping, and yet taking full advantage of every trip since we know that once the kids come, the trips won't be the same.

If any of you are on Twitter, my username there is WordVixen as well, so feel free to tweet me! And 10 points to anyone who can guess where that pic is taken!

Hey Lori! Welcome!

stars

Your story sounds very similar to mine--the whole "trip to Disney World almost immediately after the first date" scenario. Aren't those the most fun?!? It must have been a HUGE relief when you finally made it to Disney World that first time after so much car trouble! laugh

As for where the pics were taken, it looks vaguely Animal Kingdom-y or Epcot-y...am I close?!? silly

Very close! I'm impressed since it's just a headshot! It's at Rafiki's planet watch- I was sitting on a red table, I think, just in front of the entrance while a lady was giving a demonstration on a hawk. clapping

We were absolutely exhausted! We'd left home about 6 am, and by the time the taxi dropped us off, it was around 2am the next day. On top of that, Disney had canceled our reservations (despite the fact that we verified them 3 times on the ride down not to mention almost every week leading to the trip). They upgraded us to Coronado Springs for the same price we had planned to pay at All Star Movies (lucky we had our receipt!), which was awesome, but took even longer to get there, register, and get to the rooms. I think we slept till noon the next day! I'll never forget the psycho driving the luggage services guy did on the way to our rooms. Seriously- he flew up over the curbs, across the grass, etc. eek I still tell hubby that was my favorite ride at WDW. Like the tram drivers get when they've had too much caffeine. biggrin

Heya Lori/Wordvixen! Glad to have you here!

So the capacity to have more trips to WDW doesn't overcome your reluctance to fly?

Hi all! My name is Joy! My husband and I are huge Disney addicts and actually met through Disney! I'm actually a Disneyland girl (but I love WDW too). My husband and I have been twice together to DLR in the last two years, but we have our first "together" WDW trip coming up next month...yay!

We have no kids and aren't planning on kids, but we still love Disney! mickey

Hi everybody!

My name is Andrew, and I've been a Disney dork since before that term was even invented. yay
I've been to WDW over ten times, DL twice, and was even a cast member for a short time.

My wife (Disneylove) joined this forum yesterday, and as she mentioned in her intro post, we even met through Disney.

I'm an active member of many other Disney forums, but am glad to have found this one. I hope to become a regular here. I'm sure I can learn a lot, and maybe will even be able to share some of the knowledge I've accrued over the last thirty plus years!

Glad to be aboard.
