What "rules" do you ignore?

I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about one of the golden rules of touring that we break all the time. Which ones do you break?

We NEVER get there at park opening. We would rather stay later and use EMH evenings, split up our days, or figure something else out. And we did it in the summer when it was crowded and never had an issue.

Great question. I was thinking of park rules that I break when I read the title, but I'll go with yours instead of incriminating myself.

We are pretty ADR-centric. While some say that ADRs are a must-do, others say walking up is the way to go, so I'm not sure if we're breaking a "rule" there.

We're completely ADR-centric. I'm anal about our reservations! We don't get to go often, so when we do I want to eat at the restaurants I want to eat at!

We also don't follow a specific plan usually. We plan which park at what times, but that's about the extent of it - once we're in the park we're much more open.

I also like to stand up on Splash Mountain....darn lapbars. (Kidding, kidding)

We are the same with opening..we never ever make it! I like sleep too much!
I think we made and re-made Kona reservations about 10 times one trip because we kept sleeping in. Oh well..that's what vacation is for yes?

I start with my ADRs. The days at the parks are determined by which ADRs I was able to get! I've tried walk ups and it didnt work so I think I'm done with that. Also, the only park I get to by opening is AK..because I go see the animals, ride Expedition Everest twice and then I'm done with that park.

and a rule I break is.. ummmm.. I dont use the crosswalks at OKW to get to the bus stops.

We've never managed to get to a park at rope drop but have often been there for EMH until closing, and only once had an ADR, which we made from the hotel reception a couple of days in advance.

I feel like a freak because we always get to the parks before opening eek We're just early risers, vacation or not (it's a disease) but I also really like the opening shows/ceremonies - helps bring home the magic of being for me, esp the MK one.

Then we just park hop depending on crowds. And we do about 50% ADRs and keep the rest open to whatever we feel like.

I'm sure we're rule-breakers left and right, but I don't know that I know which ones we're breaking biggrin

I'm with Jeff and Caitie; if I'm breaking a rule, I don't know it! As I mentioned in another post, I even feel guilty about skipping the Norway film!

Hi,

I am an early riser as well (20 years as an IRS employee, and a lifetime nondriver, does that to me) and will sometimes arrive at rope drop. I am a rule-follower whose Disney vacations revolve around ADRs; but as a solo traveler, I can occasionally walk up for a meal. I got my 20-year employee plaque last Thursday in an afternoon Career Service ceremony; and my evaluation for 2010, at a score of 4.2 out of a possible 5.0 the same as the previous two years, entitles me to a performance bonus. Last year my bonus was $US1,300.00, which after taxes and deductions cleared to $US806.68. (Sorry for the digression, but I just wanted to brag a little.) If I know what's good for me, I'd BETTER follow the rules! laugh

One tip we've never tried that I'd like to try next time is to go to the park that had EMH the night before. We've never managed to do it even though it sounds reasonable.
