What would lure you off of Disney property?

I know a lot of you guys are more well-rounded than I am, and you actually spend time off of WDW property laugh But there are some of us here who really don't leave property at all -- we just plop down and refuse to head outside of those purple gates for the whole time we're there!

This question is for any and all to answer, though -- what attraction, restaurant, park, ride, etc. would be tempting enough that you'd go off of Disney property to experience it?

Lots of fun things in Orlando.

I love hitting the outlet malls (The Disney store especially).

Mount Dora, Celebration city and eating at Golden Corral. date
We don't have a GC where I live so I always try to hit the one on International Drive.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. laugh
The first five or six trips we took together we always intended to go to Universal one day..but we always end up adding an extra day at Disney..so eventually we stopped pretending we were going to leave.
The purple gates must have some sort of crazy force field.

Golden Corral rules. Do you get the clam chowder? That's 90% of the reason I go.

When the boys were younger we always did a day at Universal. We have also gone to Sea World, Busch Gardens, Gator Land, and even went and watched the space shuttle take off. I honestly do not know know what it would take at this point to get us to leave the property. We have not done it for at least 6 years.

I always feel like a sneak when we leave but in the past we have done: Universal (darn Harry Potter), Sea World, Kennedy Space Center, Gatorland, Outlet Malls (now that the kids are older and want to shop). Mellium Mall (for Hollister and the Cheese Cake Factory biggrin )and last time we did an airboat ride and the beach one day. Mind you this was over 15 trips. Would love to spend more time on a beach and do a mystery dinner theater....hmm, maybe next time.......if I feel like I can tear myself away from the mouse wink

We've done all this and more (except Gatorland, maybe next time). In fact we probably spend as much time off property as on it. Given the distance we have to get to orlando, it would seem a shame if we only saw one tiny bit of it.

I would love to check out Restaurant Row in Dr. Phillips, or The Wine Room in Winter Park.

In the past it's been Univeral (both parks), the malls, Seaworld, the beach (cocoa and clearwater), a shuttle launch and sky diving.

This year the one thing I am DEFINITELY going off property for on my next trip is Discovery Cove. I've never been before! I'm not sure what else. I'd like to go and see Celebration. And a beach trip would be good. I would love to go see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but the nightmare queue stories have frightened me off.

No, but it's definitely on our list of to dos in the near, near future.

I don't know if it's included there, but Amura for sushi is good in Dr. Phillips. And even though Roy's is a chain, we really, really enjoy it.

Coffee! Good coffee would lure me off property if I were staying. Problem is, I'm a Starbucks girl, and I think that Disney has some kind of Starbucks forcefield up. The closest ones I've found are Celebration and Sand Lake - quite a drive.

I can't believe I forgot to mention the friggin' outlets!

The premiere outlets with all the fancy shops are my favorite. Not that I buy anything because even at outlet prices that stuff is ridiculous.

I think the only thing would be Kennedy Space center. I dont go to Universal out here, so I'm certainly not flying across the country to go to that one when I can be at WDW.

Oh.. also, I saw on Man vs Food... Munchies 420 diner? I think it's in Sarasota. I would go there. for SURE.
they had this sandwhich that had: subway length bread; two cheeseburgers; mozerella sticks; chicken fingers; french fries; and topped with Mac&cheese.
horrible I know but I just HAVE to have it!

Bella and Everyone - have you tried the outlets just up the road at the end of I Drive - the ones that used to Belz Outlets? I think they're called Prime, vs Premium, which are the ones behind Little Lake Bryan. So much better than the ones near Disney imo. Much neater and I think the prices are better. When we outlet shop (and we do head over there occasionally) that's where we go.

We went to Prime Outlets on our last trip. It seems to have more smaller stores than Premium Outlets.
